1.Looking for a trucking company based out of Houston , tx 2. That will let me drive locally and be home every night 3. Has automatic trucks (not comfortable w/ manuals)

now mind you, I have my CDL permit and nothing else , if their are companies that meet the parameters above then great , if not I'll obtain my CDL through a 3rd party , anything would be great !!

    Thanks.

Well you could work for a beer distributor in the yard. Where I work they train guys to get there CDLs however, you have to stick around for a little while to get the training and then you know you should probably stay for sometime. I got my on my own, but that's for other reasons. Not all the time, but in a lot of cases beer and pop companies have automatics. All of our side loaders where I work are autos.

Driving a stick though is something you just need to face head on and do and do and do, because no matter what, one day you will have to drive a stick. You just have to face that head on and do it.

Here's the thing do how you feel comfortable, me I'm not big on floating gears, I don't do it, I know that's not cool, but I don't care what people think I'm in the truck usually by my self so that's how that goes. Don't get hung up on things like that. What you should get hung up on are important things like not freewheeling and remember that when you are driving the truck, you always want to keep the truck in gear.

All that being said though I hear you some of these automatic trucks are mighty nice. We have a lot of them where I work at the beer distributor and they work real good for what we do. A lot of the guys my self included like them.

Find another occupation. You ain't ready for the H and you scared of sticks. So when you have problems with backing. Are you going to search for a company that doesn't back up?

I thought I wanted to go all in with this doing OTR , but started having second thoughts , this was after I had already got my CDL permit so u figured why not try to find local work , probably would pay me more than typical entry level position bank teller or grocery store cashier , so in conclusion I'm not really trying to do this forever just looking for some good money shirt term.

do you live in Houston? And if so Which company do you work for? What's the starting rate, etc
