Hey guys I am new to the forum, but I have been browsing for a while now...
After careful thinking, I am opening a new Drayage business concentrating on Long Beach port.
What advice do you have for me? and what recommendations do you have for buying the first truck for the business?

Buy a truck that you can afford and that will do the job just remember a WORK HORSE is not always a SHOW HORSE same with truck and being California your going to be limited on the age of the truck as you need the pollution stuff

Welcome to the forum. Congrats on your new business concept. Endeavor is the key. Trucking can be a lucrative business, or it can obligate your finance wellness. I'm not here to dismay you. Are you going to be driving your first truck? I know in long haul, it's prudent to get prior brokers, or shippers, and having cash flow is the key essential. From what I heard the dryage business have long waits, and the dot is very strict with the whole pollution deal. Nevertheless, try buying a new truck. If buying a new truck is not possible then find a truck with factory warranty. After market warranties have to many sham clauses in the contract. Have some cash flow ready; you'll need it. Good-luck

Considering investing in a Truck business with 1 or 2 trucks. Any suggestion with Fleet companies that manage the business aspect? Are there smaller or mid size companies that work directly with individual investors?
thanks -
Having a business plan is prudent. I say start your inception with one truck, and then ride it out. What I learned about trucking is the the only master to advice is experience. I guess to be successful you have ride it out. Adhere to the business. Once you're in you'll see the prosper pictures. Actually, this plan is like this with every business.
