Or it could be shipper mass emailing several brokers the same load. Keeps things competitive.
-
IF he would've post it the rate I wouldn't bother to call.
Some brokers post their rates, most of them no and these 3 brokers I was talking with I had to call to find out the rate.
I knew what the going rates are and that's why I didn't want to book a load with any of them .
I don't get the re-rebroker part .
How are they making money ? I am assuming that no one is stupid enough to book a load with a third party . -
I guess we operate differently. I never see a posted rate I consider acceptable and I call on nothing unless it is a backhaul to TN. I don't care if the rate is posted or not makes no difference. And before someone blasts me for using that word backhaul most times means cheap but not always if you know your lanes. It's a word. If you go out and back you take backhauls.
-
You're using backhaul in the right context as you're not a gypsy driver going where the freight takes them for three weeks at a time. You go out and back to concentrate on your specific area. I haul backhauls into FL, lol, and typically it pays less than my outbound FL, but I'm good like that.

Now that is good. Exact opposite of what one would think. For me I could never live in Florida considering the 3 or 4 times a year I go down there is the only time I can get a good enough rate that justifies the trip. Or I'd have to park out of state after gypsy trucking and fly home or buy a reefer. Reefers can run dry down there more cost effectively than I could and most dry van independents can too. I will say if rates are posted on the backhaul loads it does save me the trouble having to cold call and find out the "book it right now" rates.
I was telling a friend about how I'm sick and tired of the bust boom that working loadboards always seems to be. The wild swings back and forth. It would really be nice to just run some consistent freight that paid decent. Wouldn't have to be over the top. My fear is always the same... ...that when I start backing down off rates, to land something like that, I'll be on a slippery slope. And it's like no-one will ever give you that consistent run. If they do better be looking over your shoulder because they'll be looking for lower price again at some point. This year is supposed to be our "year of direct freight" so maybe i'll get lucky.double yellow and mp4694330 Thank this. -
Why ruin a good story with the truth?

It was a joke... Mostly... But there are companies that book loads from brokers and then rebroker it. Landstar does it all the time. And there are people who don't have access to the original broker or book with Landstar not knowing it has been rebrokered. -

OR simple like RC stated, shipper blasting load list to many brokers (email or bidding). -
Yes, I was really tickled by that too.Showed You that person who wrote either didn't thought whole carrier-broker relationship OR simply didn't care at all... -
thought this was somewhat related
