Is it the garbage-truck type squeal? I read somewhere that comes from frequent light applications to the brakes which causes the brake dust to glaze back onto the shoes. This is caused by lots of city driving and no hard braking. Doing some hard braking for an offramp everynow and then is supposed to burn that off. take some pictures of the wear and post them.

It sounds like a hard shoe against a hard steel drum there for you will get a squeal also. FYI there are different grades of hardness in the brake shoes IE a soft shoe will wear faster but be easier on your drums were a harder grade will wear a little slower but be harder on your drums.

Leaky inner seal, and/or worn brake hardware can both cause high frequency vibration (brake squeal). Anymore, I think when you replace brake shoes you just as well replace brake hardware (wear parts) and install a new inner seal!
By the time you are adding lube to a hub, the brake linings are already shot! -
i vote disc all around

If it's a light squeal most likely brake dust. Go to a car wash and hose them out, watch the overhead clearence, lol.
