No that's not it. Those stickied threads are so full of false information, they won't learn ####.

It's outdated information. Laws constantly change. Eg, just little more than a year ago no one would of thought that carrying in Illinois would have ever been sanctioned by the state. Now it is legal. It cost about $35,000 thousand pretty pennies for us non-residents though :(. People searching on the subject want fresh information and some of those articles are 5 + years old.

As for company policies, they generally don't have any force of law. They can fire you, and they probably will fire you. That's because they are at the mercy of their insurance companies. Don't do anything stupid, like tell them, or put a hole through your truck or someone else less your really need to. If it ever comes to that... It would be a point in your life where you don't give a crap about company policies because you were in fear for your life.

As far as shippers/recievers, same deal. Who is going to up and say "hey, I gotta delivery at 1 P.M, and btw, will it bother you if I have a .454 Casull in my truck?" That be a dumb idea and whether your legal or not it would probably result in a visit from the local PD. In addition many states have a parking lot provision where the company or business cannot prohibit you from carrying and keeping your firearm in their parking lot so long as it doesn't leave the vehicle.

For the most parts it's no brainer. Keep your mouth shut. It's where so many CCWers go wrong. Don't brag. Keep it concealed, don't print. It's funny when my anti-gun friends, even my own sister, realizes all these times they spoken and joked around with me, that I've been carrying the whole time.

Being a retired LEO I have a 50 state CCW. And since the companies I have worked for have my 10 year work history they know my retiree status. Most have told me to just stay out of trouble. I have always said it is better to be fired by them than to be buried by my wife. I went to a NASA site in Utah once and they placed my weapon and cellphone in their safe at the guard shack. Returned both to me when I departed their site. Not a problem.

And yes I have had to use it once in Detroit when I was threatened by some local gangsters who tried to extort money out of me instead of prying open my trailer. Detroit PD came out and took a report and once I showed them my ID they had no problems with me being armed.

The clowns that you're worried about don't concern themselves with things like "laws." That's why the concept of a "Gun Free Zone" amuses me. You may as well change that sign to read "Target Rich Environment."

i never understood the point of shippers and receivers posting gun free zones or guns banned on company property. Now maby this is the Canadian in me talking , but as if i was going to advertise the Glock in my truck.

your right,we cant cross through customs with one and then more troubles about traveling with one in Canada .

im not saying i have one im saying when i saw "guns banned on company property" at Rocktenn in st paul mn, i thought who would advertise it to begin with, and there for who would know the difference? I bet if some wacko started offing middle management they would be glad that trucker put 3 in their chest and not think twice about their sign.

generally when people see your canadain they move along. Some one tried to sell me a "20 carrot" necklace in a TA in SC for the unbeatable price of what ever i had in my pockets, i said "well all i got is canadain money" his reply was something along the lines of him not wanting "that ####" and quickly moved along.
