Why not drive a truck?

The prehire basically means "if you were honest with us and told us EVERYTHING we need to know you are hired."

Because they will find out otherwise. Alot of trucking companies like to do their background checks after you get hired. Probably just to punish the dishonest folks by tarnishing their record and firing them.

 

I don't even know what a B is...is that a bus? You've been a driver for 23 yrs...or you've maintained your license for 23 yrs? No offense, but I don't need to know you to say that the odds are against you. The odds are against all of us brother. You might be the best wheel man that ever tickled a keyboard but that's a small amount of what's required to survive over time. In fact it's the least important element I'd say.

I seriously doubt if I could be a company driver. I don't think I could handle being told where to go and when to be there by someone on a qualcom.

I wish you the best of luck and encourage you to keep us abreast of your career but statistics say it won't last long. I predict you'll be gone in less than 2 years. Prove me wrong.

I think you'll find this is the most negative career possibly in the world. If you want to try it then try it. Nearly every trucker you speak to has walked up hill both ways for years and will almost beg you not to do it yet they still do it. If you love it great. If not there are other jobs out there.

that happened to me once, not going to lie. Worked for Cowan Systems out of Baltimore for about 9 days before they actually figured out if I'd included every little incident is ever had or not on my app and called me into the terminal mangers office to can me when they figured out I didn't. Honest one-time mistake...fired off the app and didnt quite comprendo what kind of issue that could cause.

That's just how these mega fleet companies roll...they're basically desperate for warm bodies and don't really care if you last 9 days, 9 months, or 9 decades. If they did they would do all their homework on you before they cut you loose in their equipment. Don't let them jive you otherwise.
