I have a Macally Cup Holder FM Tuner for my iPod, but I keep blowing the fuse in the plug. I have replaced it a couple times with the same result. Any ideas why this is happening or how to stop it? I tried unplugging it when I start the truck, or even when I am not using it, but it still goes. Thanks.

Are you sure you have the right type and size fuse in it? Does the plug fit in securely? If it is loose and making intermittent contact, that could cause the fuse to go.

I took the original fuse with me to Radio Shack and bought replacements, so it should be the right size. It seems to fit securely, although I haven't really driven with it yet. I did bump it earlier and it blew then. It also didn't work when I plugged it back it after unplugging (while it was working) a few minutes earlier.

If it is a glass fuse, does it blacken the inside of the glass when it blows? If so, then there is a hard short in the connector, cord, or tuner. Maybe it is under warranty? If the fuse opens but is not "blowing" open, it could be caused by heat, connection, etc. What size (# amps) fuse is it?

It's not black, but I can see the wire is burnt up. It's a 1A250...

Had that same problem then went to Wally World and bought a Pioneer DEM-P4000UB stereo. Has a USB cable to run your IPOD and can control it thru the tuner. Keeps it charged. I run my laptop and Sirius thru the Aux port with a splitter and 2 mini cables. Did away with the FM modulaters. Cost $157.00 Highly recommend this for all drivers.
