Can someone explain this?
I am a student at one of those wonderful CDL millsand we have been driving around in circles for the past two weeks.........
Last night I was slowing down, in heavy traffic, getting ready to make a turn..... it was one of those corners that the city designed assuming nothing longer than 20 feet would ever be on the road.............
I'm trying to go down through my gears (still trying to master that "floating into gear" thing) and some oh-so-bright dude decides to cut me off and turn.
Now, please realize, I am in 4th gear when he makes this decision..... I am in the right hand lane (where most people are when they want to turn right) and he is in the LEFT hand lane...... no...... this is not a double right hand turn lane.![]()
I was able to stop and thankfully the car behind me was not tailgating..... several vehicles honked at the idiot (on my behalf I think) and he went on his way.......... I missed him by about 6 inches.
My question is this........
........ when there is a Big Truck painted bright red, white and blue........ with the words "STUDENT DRIVER" on the grill, on the visor, on the tractor, on the trailer, and on the back doors...........
....... why would anyone go near it????![]()

Odds are he didn't even bother to look - he'd have turned whether it was you, a car, a cop, or nothing in your lane.
As I've mentioned elsewhere; you know what EMS personnel call "lights and sirens"?
Camouflage
Actually, I've been giving this a little thought, and it seems to me that trucks are simply too big to be seen. I'd like to see some research on this, but *I* can't afford it. -
I had the same thing happen to me. the only difference was i was on the industerial drive my school was on bob trialing it. i was about to turn left in the the school's parking lot someone just pulled out on the road was behind me for 3 seconds and tried to pass me. i had my turn signal on when he pulled out to pass me. i had to jam on the brakes i just cuaght him in my mirrors.

I think that people in vechiles are so intent on where their going and their little corner of the world that they just don't look. Its not that they are trying to die or hurt anyone else they just don't think!!

the answer is no they dont think. I just got done with a job where I was
driveing flatbed big cast pipes with flanges on them very hard to strap down (they dont give at all). I was continuously looking in back of me to make sure the straps were tight. And inevitably I has some jerk so close to the back of the trailer I couldn't see anything in front of his windshield. And that was my thought every time was do they think and my answer to my self was no they dont and they dont have to cause they will be dead in a minute and its gonna be your fault. -
Maybe we could make a bumper sticker for you that says......
Owner is not responsible for death caused by stupidity

LOL better get used to it now. It happens all the time.
