Well, you got me after all. I tried. Admittedly I have not been to that island. Cheers.

Exactly. THe mill that I haul to only hires contractors. They bring in over 300 loads a day. Just on the permanent fleet they have over 60 trucks running. Does not take into count the temp trucks that are on just for the winter. Gotta ask why?? And the answer is not difficult. It's cheaper for them to do it this way than to purchase, run and maintain their own trucks. Just to purchase 60 trucks without trailers is going to cost them 12 million dollars for an asset that will depreciate till it is worth nothing. Log trailers cost about as much as the tractor.....so double that...Just in depreciating assets. Then build and outfit a shop that can maintain 60 trucks....

Now they have contracted o/o's to run their own trucks at about 138 bucks an hour. That's if you haul mimnimum 55 tonne product. Knock yourself out and buy a truck. Keep us informed.

I think it's to soon, there's allot more to owning a truck than just driving it
