Hi dude just a side note most fuel carriers require a 2 to 3 yr experience i doubt anyone will pick you up with what your looking for.

He could start at SNI. Get a year of experience and try to haul gas then. I would say oil field first, but its laying people off.
rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Pilot Flying J is about the only one all others pay by the load, unless you drive the class B trucks that do direct deliveries.

Only the majors were paying OT after 8...... You'll be lucky to find a carrier to pay by the hour with ot. Most pay % or milage with load/unload pay. -
I delivered gas and diesel with Penn Tank lines. The hourly rate is a book rate. Meaning the time they figure the load should take you to deliver is what you are paid. Even if the real time is more or less....you are paid the book rate. Usually it takes you longer lol. Then from the time you are at the yard warming up the truck, inspecting it, then even driving to your first point of loading is unpaid. One of our load points was 45 minutes away. Initial drive from yard to that load point.....Free.....a when you are actually being paid it was at 18 an hour all straight time. My biggest take home amount in one week was 640 dollars and I worked 6 days to make that. Just some information for you to think about if a company offers you book rate

Oh my GOD ,i thought fuel transport where the money is ...pulling a bomb behind me for that kind of money...i better stay LTL
JReding and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
seems like fuel hauler top pay about $1000 and some change no matter how many years of experience you have.
compare to $1600+ top pay for some LTL
the choice is yours. -
I have been saying this for awhile now. Tank work is probably the easiest most enjoyable type of trucking out there IMO. But the money isn't there like it use to be years ago when you had the big oil companies supplying there own stations. You can make a good living at it but its no more lucrative than a good LTL company if that's where your at now. Same goes for the O/O side with leasing onto these chemical companies. I keep hearing guys say they are making good money with them and then I look into it and I see $1.68/mile average? I was getting almost $1.30/mile with Chemical Leaman 20 years ago. Where is the good part? Its a bummer because I miss pulling tanks.Dharok Thanks this.

Money hauling fuel is garbage. Out here in milwaukee everyone is complaining. I gross about 1000 a week 50 hrs/wk.. And that's not hourly. You gotta run your ### off for that... No milking like a hourly job... My buddy has been with Klemm for about 2 months. At his interview they told him he can make 50k per year doing the bare minimum... Turns out he's only taking home $850 every 2 WEEKS!!!!! I am trying to get into LTL which companies pay the best?
