Wow skyviper Thank you very very much for this advice or comment I really apreciatte it. I will really think about all the details, I spoke with a Schneider Finance guy and the payment for a brand new Cascadia is 845 weekly. Thats a chunk of money. Thats why Im kind off debating what to do.

You have to look at SFI as a convenience store for a truck you pay more but the convenience is what costs you. I dI'd a 1 year lease so I could see if the choice program works for MY situation and it has so far. If you go to an outside vendor and get a truck you're locked in and have no out in a year if it doesn't work.

I run for the ability to come and go as I please. I am all about my money but home time is 1st. I've got other revenue sources so home time is why I like the choice program. It's not that I don't make good money here because I do its the ability to run as I need to or want too.

    ericksong00 Thanks this.

If you've never dispatched your self and aren't positive this is a long term career choice meaning running on the choice board a 1 year lease is the smartest option so you're not tied into a lease or finance deal you can't get out of.

Hey Skyviper, if you are up in the IL/IA area, there are some pretty good loads coming out of there going to CO. to get you home. They usually pay on the north side of $2 per mile. You may already know that, but just throwing it out there.

    skyviper73 Thanks this.

I'm about to hit the 5 month mark on my 1 year lease and I'm kind of facing a dilemma. It's either pay off this truck, finance/re-lease the residual or get into a new truck with the features I want. If I go the buyout route I will have a 70K payment to make on a 2013 cascadia with approximately 350,000 on the ticker. I like this instance because it'll be paid off and I won't have to run as hard if I don't want to. I could also take as much time as I want or need (kind of want to take off a few weeks in a July to go to the WSOP in Vegas, if I bought it out this year I should have enough money saved up to have a fun time in Vegas come 2016.

Second option would be to re-lease this truck and pay it off in installments. Don't really like this option because I'm still committed to payments.

Final would be get a new truck. That brings into question where to get it from and what features to put on it. I don't really want a company spec'ed cascadia in this instance. I'd just keep my current truck that's given me zero problems so far if I wanted that. I don't know, but still a while to think about it LOL

i'll try to answer the best that i can. With the truck payment, insurance, etc, you are going to be looking at roughly an $1100 per week payment. I myself usually stay out about 3 weeks or so and go home for about 4 or 5 days. What I usually do, is when i go home, it's on a Sun. or Mon. then I will come back out on Thurs or Friday. Coming out that late in the week, you can still make a decent check, you just have to smoke and roll, but say you come out on thursday, you have 5 days until payroll cutoff at midnight Monday, so you have plenty of time to make a good check. My expenses usually run about $2500 or so including said truck, insurance and fuel. You 4K in revenue, that's $1500. 4K is pretty easy to do and when things are going well, 5k plus in revenue is out there. You won't do that every week, but 4 plus is there for the taking. Tennman goes home alot more than i do LOL, but does very well along with most of us on here. If they haven't chimed in by the time I wrote this, they will. No one minds helping another out at all. Feel free to ask any questions. Someone will answer.
