I'm trying to find some info on trucking companies in south Florida. Mainly local stuff. Long story short my daughter is moving down there and I am thinking about moving there to be closer to her since we r in NY now. I've only had my license since Aug 2014 tho. I've been driving a fuel tanker for the past few months tho so I have some experience. Any help with companies that will hire in that area would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure where they are located in Florida, but Gemini Transport ( AKA the yellow Love's Truck Stop tankers) have an opening for a fuel driver in Florida.

Lots of local tanker work in South Florida.
Comcar
Florida Rock & Tank
Lots of other places; just depends on where you plan to live. -
Thanks. I'm planning on south Florida. West palm, pompano beach. I kno that's where she will b. I also have fam in Orlando and Brandon areas but I would like to be closer to where she is.

Sherwin-Williams has a distribution center somewhere around Pompano Beach.
interlinebrands.com
Associated Grocers of Florida
TopGear Logistics
Since you want local, check a jobs website such as "Indeed" and look for "truck driver" in both Miami and Pompano Beach.
Should be able to find some tanker work such as fuel hauling or dry bulk hauling. Sometimes you see jobs for fueling aircraft at those small airports the rich people and corporations use.Flynam2982 Thanks this. -
Make sure you are ok with the pay before moving. $10-12 an hour to haul aircraft fuel in Orlando. The further south you get the cheaper and harder it is to get work. Do you know Spanish? That's almost a prerequisite for local trucking work in S FLA. I'm not bursting your bubble, just warning you to do your homework. Being a rookie isn't going to help either.

great point but then the cost of living will be significantly less than in ny.i say go for it OP.what was that buffett song that said something bout different latitude/different attitude?
reads as if OP is single too.lots of senorita mamacitas will prob be a good thing.Flynam2982 Thanks this. -
The cost of living lower? LOL unless he lives in the greater NYC area, the cost of living will be higher in South FLA. I was born and raised here. It's countless how many times I've heard how expensive everything is compared to wages. The house I bought last year was from New Yorkers. Husband was working back (couldn't find a high paying job here) in NYC and was tired of commuting to Orlando. There's even a term called halfbacks. That's northerners that come to FL, don't make it and move to NC.
I've seen SO many move here expecting to make what they made up north only to make half that, and pay double for rent. If I can help someone make a better more informed decision, I feel it's my duty.x#1 and Flynam2982 Thank this. -
Def thanks for the info. I plan on doing as much research as I can before I make any final decisions. I'm from Long Island. The cost of living def seems less in Florida. Rent here is ridiculous, never mind buying a house lol. And u dnt make that much more here than there. It's def gna b an adjustment but hopefully it'll work out. I would rather struggle somewhat there at first closer to my 4 yr old than struggle a lot here and have to pay for travel etc just to see her.

A nothing special 2/2 condo here is 1300 a 2/2 house and not in a good neighborhood you are looking at 1600 here in Sw Florida A decent house is 2000 grand a month here.Food is ridiculous and fuel is 25 cents a gallon more.
