I was wondering on average what flat bed lease operators are getting for miles each week? I'm currently running reefers and am thinking of switching to flat bed. I will be upgrading and wondering if I should switch or not. Worrying if I will get the miles or not to make the payment and have something left over.thanks in advance

I was getting about 3000 miles a week and an average of 1200$ a week after expenses

$1,2-$1,500/week minimum, before taxes but prime doesn't report all of that on the 1099, seemingly.
In the summer I usually see checks hit the mid 2000's. I've also only seen $50 after an 80 hour week.
You really wouldn't think it, but prime gts some really good flstbed freight. All I see other mega carrier flatbeders pulling is bulk commodities like steel, lumber, pipe, ect. And by others I mean maveric, TMC, BOYD, ect...we do that too, but it's a pretty good 80/20 split, I rarely see a bulk load and do a lot more machinery & refined commodities; these pay better as a whole.Last edited: Feb 7, 2015

Can't wait for these summertime loads to start coming in. I was seeing quite a bit of sub-$1.00/mi. freight the last month, but hopefully that tails off quickly.

First, you need to understand that we aren't paid by the mile. Lease operators at Prime receive a percentage of the linehaul, fuel surcharge and accessorial payments- in other words you get a bucket of money. Out of that sum, your costs are paid first, and you get what's left. Controlling your costs is key to running a successful business at Prime.
The point is that how much is left for you is under your control to a certain extent.n3ss Thanks this. -
Yes ip I understand that I am currently leasing myself but I also look at the miles an revenue an that many miles I would expect to make more than that which I have I also understand u will have your bad weeks jus saying 3000 miles an $1200 revenue is not good at least in my eyes

The fuel bill is about 30% of your gross revenue... a good place to start.
