3 of us arrived for orientation. They did not hire all 3. I passed the skill tests and got hired. The tests were not hard just (get out and look). I got my trainer assigned and met him. Seems like we will get along.

I have been on the road until last night with my trainer. I did get to go home 2 times for the weekend and 1 over night stay thanks to our load and route. I have driven several thousand miles delivered too many loads to count. I had a blast. Snow, mountains, downtown Atlanta, wind gusts and ice. I am back for the final road test and some other administrative stuff starting Monday. Wish me luck.

Anyone working for HOW got any good tips while at orientation or with a trainer? If all goes well during orientation/training I will be running the Southeast. Seems most everybody here has gone to WI for it just wondering how Alabama will be?

I'm going on 5 months with them now if you count trainer time. Also running the southeast, though I wouldn't count on that, you'll still go where needed when needed. It is mostly southeast though, but I've run out to AZ and CA, some midwest, and up and down from the southeast to IL, Chicago, up to WI and over to MI. Haven't run any northeast at all, or northwest. I'm from FL, btw.

I went to WI, so not sure about AL. (Actually sitting not far from the AL place now...) As far as orientation advice, just be prepared to learn. They'll teach the backing manuevers like in CDL school, but they may teach them differently. I liked the HOW method a little better actually, was just broken down differently. trainer was for 4 weeks, just try to pick up as much as possible. Different trainers have different methods/personalities, I think, but they try to match you. Got along good with mine, if you don't and just can't stand it, ask for a different one, or just remember it's not forever and suck it up for a month.

    Hope all goes well!

Good info 12string, yeah I kind of figured I may have to go about anywhere and not just the SE. With the trainer you done most of the driving though, right? More time behind the wheel was a selling point with me(with the trainer).

    Thanks for your time!
