I'm not sure if this has been covered but most of the contracts at corpus christi pretty much will let you do a 3 load a day (with 3rd load preload and deliver the next day). But It is still a lot of work and stress if only one driver is doing them. Some of them even complain and don't want to do a third load. Now, I know a truck driver would want to make money as much as he/she can but sacrificing your fatigue is a matter of a life/death situation. Some trucks drivers work 70+ hours a week and that i think is crazy.
Anyway, down to my questions. What are good policies to place if I decide that I want to hire a second driver to do the third load? I have 3 other trucks each with their own drivers. If i introduce a (3 trucks - 4 driver) setup, getting along and pointing fingers would definitely start cropping up and things getting lost etc. What are the some best practices or policies to minimize these issues Or is this even a good idea? Let me know your thoughts.
Good idea to add a second driver to maximize load and reduce driver fatigue?

Find a driver that only wants to work part time. And be careful. Your full time drivers might feel like there going to be replaced. Which can be a problem. So you will want explain to your drivers. That you are considering hiring a part time driver to help with 3 rd load.

Explain that you want them to run legal, actually run legal not wink wink legal. And this is necessary to accomplish that end. Basically get on board or get out of the way, this is what you believe is necessary, period.
This is the way of the future, get on board or get ran over 10 4 buddy, back to you.. -
Wow! I'm impressed. A employer that actually 'wants' to do the right thing? That seem to be a rarity today. Kudos to you. Wish I lived in your area, I'd look you up. (No, I'm not willing to move)

Either way they will #####. Its free ice cream, I hate Vanilla!!!!!! Well you could get a driver part time to cover the guys who don't want the third load. But its a big but to get everything to fall into place.

There a lot of part time driving work in the EF. We have a guy with us who really only drives when someone wants time off. He does maybe two days a week on average. I've also seen a fair amount of want ads staying they will take part timers, retirees and such.
Edit: I could use a relief driver right now. I'm unloading my fourth and have been driving since 1a.
