Yes you are right. I just wanted him to know I was not directing it at him, as we do not set the rates on contract bids.
I can some on spot bids or broker stuff where I'm at..

This probably broke a few dozen safety rules at my old company but in the real world, you have to problem solve to get the job done.

Ok so the story is I was hauling a concrete washout bin on a rollback, it was raining today, so all the crews were at home. So I had to unload myself. Normally when hauling containers etc... You leave it overhang a foot, so when you drop your bed, it will rest on the ground, unchain it and pull ahead and voila, container is in place.

Well I've never unloaded in the mud before. I backed up on the rip rock and into the mud as far as I felt that I wouldn't need to get a dozer to pull me out. So I drop the bed to the ground and attempt to pull forward. But my stabilizer bar is all the way up and already dragging because of an incline so I when I pull forward, not enough weight of the bin is catching in the mud. So I get a loader, thinking I could lift the rear and pull it back a bit. But there is a huge mud pile, so there wasn't enough room to get the loader in there.

Normally I would have tied the rear of the bin to the loader bit there was literally nothing I could tie down the rear with. The two tie down points were at the front, so I got out some chain and tied down the driver side of the bin to a nearby water truck and positioned the loader to tie down the right side of the bin.

This is the view of the passenger side where the front of the bin is chained to the loader.

And finally when I got it unloaded

I then used my rollback bed to push the bin back, to create slack, so I could undo the chains.
