It's Mexican Federal Rt. 2 between Agua Prieta and Juarez. Puerto San Luis is the pass over the state line between Sonora and Chihuahua. Rt. 2 is a major highway.

I'd like to take a load from Canada to Mexico one day. Or vice versa...

It's no wonder you hear about tour buses going over the side every now and then. Check out the coolant/oil in the middle. Looks like the L.A. freeways in the 70's.

I noticed they use U.S. road signage...the black and yellow chevrons and warning signs.

no guard rails though. That keeps things exciting.

I've bicycled roads just like this in vietnam, costa rica, and the dominican. In vietnam we rode up through the clouds on a road like that. Down there they have some bonkers trucks going at crazy speeds. Weird mix of old US stuff and strange huge straight tanker trucks that have enough axles they look like crane carriers. Everyone just honks as they go around turns and if they don't hear anything they swing wide taking up both lanes. We took a bus to the airport and there was a traffic jam, so people just got off and drove on the other side of a 8 lane divided highway. The people driving the wrong way on the wrong side of the road just went slow and honked their horns and flashed their lights. But the most epic roads I've ever seen where in the 3rd world. A real blast in any vehicle. Possibly my favorite is rt133 in the dominican republic. Brand new road, insane grades and views and when I took it, totally unused.

They use kind of a mixture. The speed limit signs are km/h inside of a red circle and no passing signs are two cars side by side with a red circle and slash similar to European road signs. The rest kind of mirror the US and Canada.

Up until the mid nineties Mexico used white paint for two lane roads. They then changed over to using yellow paint for uniformity with the rest of North America.
