What is your view on one of those isx. Whose better? Which of them last longer? Which has less problems and breakdown?

I think the later 2013's w/ be the most trouble free. The '07's were problems and so were the '10's because they had too much EGR. After the 13's came out w/ the larger ring gap so the rings don't soot pack, they are pretty trouble free (mine has 275,000 miles and has never thrown a code) but it's already used more oil than my 60 series did in 3 million miles. Figure at least 3 gallons between changes @ 25,000 miles. That oil usage is with 15-40 Delvac. W/ the 10-30 Delo it came with, oil usage was more than that. Cummins says that's not unusual... Had the exhaust soot filter cleaned at 235,000 miles and the shop said it was one of the cleaner ones they'd seen, so I guess the oil burn isn't packing that, which is something I'd been leary of.

For me it is a toss up between the 07 and the 13. They all have vgt issues eventually. The 07 won't put you into a derate because of DEF related issues. The 13 to me seems to run smoother and start easier than the 07. Think of it this way, which engine has more sensors on it? Each one of those sensors has the ability to cause you issues. Each one of those sensors has wires running to it which will eventually have corrosion issues.
The Challenger Thanks this. -
Cummins has not much sensors compared to maxxforce, paccar, volvo, or detroit.

I had a 07 isx in a international #### thing was in the shop more then it was on the road. egr overpressure sensor clogs up with soot ever 6 or 7 thousand miles then derates the engine. have not heard of many lasting past 800,000 with out a inframe

My 2014 has been trouble free except the oil samples coming back with traces of potassium. Under 100 ppm, lost 2 gallons of coolant in 130,000 miles. Cummins says unless it consistently shows over 300ppm they GUARANTEE they will not be able to find anything wrong.
It hasn't used a drop of oil.
My attraction to the newer SCR engines was they claimed less EGR=less soot.
I'm rethinking my decision to go new as I read "CM871 technical discussion" on this forum and learned how to maintain the older ones. Also because CARB is a laughable joke in enforcing it's %^$###, arbitrary, &*(^%, ridiculous law.
Driving a Cat powered truck is way funner.....
DEF is a pain in the tookus and costs over $2000.00 a year. -
My cousin's 08 volvo with isx, didn't had much problems with derate. Cleans dpf every 250k miles. Reached 700k miles.
