Was wondering if anyone has or still is using the units above (in title) in their truck. I have to buy any component beyond the sportster such as a dock / antenna etc. so finding a used one will set me back 25-50 bucks. Worth buying a unit that was made more recent???? Anything i might be missing in consideration?? Your opinion is appreciated.

If your vehicle does not have a front mounted plug for the Sirius the older unit is what you want. The newer ones have a weak FM transmitter ( FCC regulations). I am still using my old Sirius.

My old vehicle left with the dock, and both antennae (internal and external), what are your thoughts there?

Depends what you want to spend. I'd go the new route with a sportster. I would by the adapter that fm transmits directly to the radio and the car radio antenna gets plugged into it then both into back of the radio. I would buy a pana pacific truck antenna. That combination runs about $200 or slightly less. Easy to install and remove from a company truck.
