I've not seen this question asked anywhere, and as a newbie I find it actually has meaning for me:

If you have a preference, which tractor do you prefer to drive, and why?

I prefer the Volvo that I've been in for the past few years. The aerodynamics are good, I like the way it's laid out on the inside, doesn't have anywhere near the amount of road/wind noise that a Freightliner does, and the maneuverability in tight parking lots is a dream.
Sure, it's not as "pretty" as a chicken truck, but I don't recall ever standing out in a lot looking at my truck and thinking "Darn that's a pretty truck."
    Besides....chrome won't get you home.

Kenworths are solid, but I'm going to be an O/O soon, so I have to suck it up and pick an aerodyne. I think I'll go for a Freightshaker or a Volvo.

While I haven't personally driven one yet I hear many rave reviews from those who drive the Freightliner Cascadia. The big comments I hear are powerfull, very quiet and smooth and very roomy inside.

While not available until Sept 08 I expect the International Lonestar to be the shizzle. Queen sized murphy bed, hardwood floor in sleeper, lots of cabinets and a cabin and dash that look like it was made by Lexus or Cadillac.

.......Oh yeah it looks super badazzz on the outside also:biggrin_25525:

woot, that Lonestar looks sweet. I'm 6'6", and room to move is going to be an issue. As I recall, the school I was at was using KWs. Not bad to drive, but getting into the back was not as easy as I would like. I didn't care much for the layout, either - but that would be something I could get used to, I think

I've had the good fortune to have driven all of the available brands (though certainly not all the models) of trucks at least a little and some a whole lot. At 6'6" you will really want a wide body sleeper cab. International and Freightliner are the only ones I have been able to slide the seat forward in and drive comfortably and I am only 6'1". As long as the truck has clear sidewalls behind the drivers seat it is no trouble to have the seat slid back a couple inches by a considerate mechanic. My personal favorite is International Eagle. I need a widebody truck as they fit my physique. As important for me is visibility. IH provides. I believe the prettiest truck on the road, with roomy interior and plenty of glass is the Western Star but my boss laughs when I ask for one.:biggrin_25513:

The free ones are the best,
I drive a Freightliner Colombia mid roof xt ,decent room inside,i am 6' 4" and can stretch out in the bunk, but the auto trans is the real nice part,
it will spoil you real quick, and my left calf has returned to it's normal size.

My neighbor drives a Volvo 670 and loves it.

Only been in 2. Spent the last few weeks learning to drive in a Freightliner Columbia. Switched at the last minut to a Volvo for the road test as the Liner was being used by another student, and man am I glad!

The liner def has more power but thats about the only thing I liked about it. The Volovo is comfy (Im 6'1) tight steering radius, and I just like the layout better.

However as I said, Iv only been in those, IM sure there plenty of others that are nice to, hope to find out.
