I'm in little confusion and don't really know what to do now.
I'm Alaskan resident and working in lower 48 as truck driver. I've got my own truck now and about to register it, however I'll need to do it in my home state. Alaska is an exception from IRP and I won't be able to get apportioned plates there. I could register it under company that I working for (based in Illinois) but I don't want to be attached to someone and want to own my truck myself what I paid for. What options do I have in this case? I could change my residency but I don't really live anywhere in lower 48 and my home is in Alaska and planning to go back there often.

from what i understand(could be wrong) but long as you hold the TITLE to the truck when you lease under the company out of IL you still OWN the truck, you pay them x amt and they put plates/reg ifta, irp on the truck. you can still say 'screw you " and leave you OWN the truck

Well, I paid for the truck already and about to transfer titles to my name and get registration for it. Can I get tittle of Alaska and registration of IL (under company)?
-
i would think so. call your company out of if IL and see if they will overnight you plates/ifta/irps to you. i would also check with alaska and see if you can run 2 plates,

Alaska can run 2 plates. Seems like vehicle can be titled in one state (in Alaska in my case) and registered in other state. Will try to do it in this way. Thanks a lot.
