Experience with YRC ( includes YRC, New Penn, USF Reddaway and Holland

What's up guys..I was just wondering about New penn ..they got a terminal in Maspeth,ny and i had applied a lil while back ..so this guy Called me and said if i can go in there on friday to do a road test.. I just want to find out what the starting pay is for this job ..Cuz i actually got a choice ..GO OTR for .45 CPM or stay local. I know they're union but i just wana about their starting pay . Thx.

 

Your question isn't clear. Do you mean Go OTR with a OTR company or Run OTR with New Penn? Is the local gig with New Penn or another company. Reason I say this cause LTL companies like New Penn has local city drivers (local) and Linehaul drivers (road) that stay out a week in the same company. A lot of people get info mixed up is why I'm trying to clarify and not drill you.

 

yea ..you're right i wasn't clear lol.. what i meant to say is that another company offered me .45 cpm but New penn wouldn't tell me their pay till i go there on friday .. I just wanted to know what it was beforehand so i won't be wasting my time or theirs.. New penn offered me a Local Position out of Maspeth, ny ..Nyc driving most likely .

 

I don't work for New Penn but I do work west coast side of the regional Reddaway. Our pay varies so I won't speculate numbers. In my opinion OTR company vs New Penn I'd take New Penn in a heartbeat. But if you like the otr lifestyle then go with the OTR job. Pay wise I highly doubt your wasting your time. One thing though that is the same throughout the company is the benefits. You pay 0 for healthcare or next to none. Typical that would be for family $300-400 a month off your pay where here you don't pay that. That can equal acouple cpm.

 

Lol i don't like the OTR lifestyle. i'd rather go local .but you know if i can't make money doing it i gotta do what gotta do.. i read on this thread somewhere that they start you out with 20.38 an hour plus .52 cpm..wonder if that's true . .It's a union deal so i'm sure benefits are top of the line.

 

That sounds like top out pay. But like I said it could vary cause of area and depends on how they operate. Just ask a lot of questions. If they are looking to do a road test already they pretty much are hurting and want to hire you if everything checks out criminal back ground, physical, and road test.

 

Medical, Dental and Vision is FREE....as in NO money out of pocket. FYI

 

Thanks guys but I think I'm going WITH Ups freight.. Did interview drug tests physical and road test yesterday.. They're doing their background checks and after that I should be read to go.. Hopefully I can retire there!

 

Out of carteret NJ.. They start you off low but it goes up quick!! New Penn only pays by hour!?? Or hour and mileage!? Why did u leave ups?
