1st. priority is getting the best training possible, then worry about the money.
-
Training, as in orientation... as in you already have a CDL and already went to school for 6 months, but they expect you to drive around with someone for 2 months... if you were going through a company to get a cdl, you should be paying it under certain circumstances. -
Trucking is considered unskilled labor so what do you expect?
-
Or you could actually go to a school, own your education and work for a real company that treats their drivers right and pays them what they are worth and make 3 to 4 times the money.
Just sayin.... -
Did it take two hands to handle your whopper???
-
Had to put it on the table. It was too much! Lol

I get amused at how the younger "kids" come on this forum bashing companies they never worked for or have any 1st hand knowledge of. I've read post after post from student's, wannabe's, and 0-1 year experience who bash one company or another. Swift is the biggest target of the bashing and rightly so. They're the biggest company. Yes, I know it's possible to go to CDL school and start your first job making mega bucks with the best company on earth. But it's rare and it seems way too many feel entitled to that. Hey kids, with very few exceptions, there are dues to be paid.
JOHNQPUBLIC and A21CAV Thank this. -
It isn't just a trucking thing either. I supervise young " know it all" finishers, painters, trim carpenters, and framers every day. They are getting $15.00 dollars per hour and think they are getting screwed. Not a single one of them could work unsupervised, but most of them think they are getting screwed. I had some kids whining today about having to bring 40 buckets of light weight mud to the 2nd floor on the job site. Whining the whole time. I finally had enough, and sent one of them home for 2 days. It got the attention of the others pretty quick.JOHNQPUBLIC Thanks this.
