18-wheeler rollover shuts down portion I-220 exit ramp at I-20

Nice going. While I agree there are many ramps that are way too short, I have no sympathy for a driver ( term used loosely) that this happens to. In all my years, I always took exit ramps at a crawl, especially loaded. The biggest shame, is a nice Peterbilt laying on it's side. I wouldn't feel so bad if it was any other truck.

 

If the speed limit on the exit ramp says 30 then back it down to 20-25. Why is everybody in such a rush? too many times i see the rollovers on the ramps and don't get me started on when it snows.

 

Motorists tend to measure trips of any length in seconds and feet and fractions thereof (etc., etc., etc.), so their maneuvering decisions tend to be completely nonsensical.

Higher velocity gives the impression of shorter trip length, AKA "saving time", and regardless of actual elapsed time, it "feels" shorter.

We have a few local streets posted "SIGNALS SET FOR 25 MPH". Motorists -invariably race between the signals anyway, and apparently never notice every time they come to a stop the signal changes to green ~5 seconds later, then it's sort of a contest to see who can launch quickest and attain the highest velocity before slamming on the brakes, again.

Nothing inspires more stupidity than motor vehicles. Love, politics and firearms combined can't hold a candle to it.

 

Hi gpsman, as usual, spot on. Nothing is more evident of that in Milwaukee, although, any big city will do. I'm not being racist, by any means, merely an observation, but younger black males, I've noticed are especially guilty of the parking lane, don't want to wait behind the line of traffic stopped to be the 1st off the line, even if it's a "right lane must turn right" lane, traffic laws be darned. In my younger days, I would have tried to thwart their efforts, but have settled down in my old age. Not much is more gratifying than pulling up next to them at the next light, where they do it all over again.
