My bf is with Boyd and loves it. He gets home most weekends and has since he started there over a year ago. They have a 7 week training program which is not only time with a trainer but an additional week of securement training. Also with Boyd, you don't have to worry about your trainer only trying to make his truck payments as they only allow company drivers to train. They don't pay for school but do have reimbursement for school tuition.
Good luck with whichever company you choose.Sean_Reno Thanks this. -
A better question...which ones don't require any money up front?

Celadon
Maverick
Swift
Prime
Midwest-coast Transport
Earl L. Henderson
Southern Refrigerated Transport -
I mean do you have to attend school on your own and then they do a reimbursement or...I'm looking at schools like SWIFT, CRE...that send you to school on their dime.

Didn't you say in another thread that you were in the Navy? If so then the best thing is to use the GI bill and go to a local truck driving school then get the company like TMC or Boyd to reimburse you and give you the training bonus from the VA when they hire you.
I'm in a school in my area right now and we've had recruiters from 10 or more companies show up including Boyd and TMC. I guess the way it works is that the company gets part of your GI bill money as if they are a college training you for that first year and you can clain the BAH from the VA as if you are going to college there. That's what I'm about to do when i finish my class but the VA also paid for my 4000 dollar school.Sean_Reno Thanks this. -
I've been out if the Navy for quite awhile...I earned my degree on the GI Bill (ch 30) and don't have any remaining benefits. Seeing, as I don't want to put 3, 4, 5k or more out of pocket up front...I'm looking for a quick entry into getting my cdl via a company run school. For better or worse...that will work best for my wallet right now.

I'm pretty sure there is also a deal with CH 30 that if you used all of it then you can get 1 year of the new GI Bill from the VA. I retired in 2011 and the day before switched mine over to the new one since it was a better deal then didnt use any of it until now but its good for 15 years now instead of 10.

I looked into it and because I earned my degree...I'm not eligible for any other educational benefits.
