I am curious how team pay is calculated. If a company says they pay .45 c for team drivers and they average 6000 miles per week, does that mean that they are splitting the miles and not the pay? And are teams usually more coast to coast?

You split one or the other, but it works out the same either way. 6000x0.225=1350 or 3000x0.45=1350.

Usually the way it is worded by the company is that they will pay $0.45 to the truck and the miles per pay period are split evenly, no matter how many each of you individually drives.

source: I drive team with my wife. Even though our pay is deposited into the same account, we each get a separate settlement breakdown each week

since I'm up and can't sleep I will do my best to explain young Jedi. The miles and pay will be split 50/50 by both drivers weekly. You and your partner will likely run coast to coast at all times of the day. Choose a partner wisely if you can. As a team driver your partner is the most important thing. You want a partner who can run nights or day if needed. You also want a partner who can pull his own weight as well..the truck will be the living space for 2 people so hopefully you get a partner who understands this and will respect the truck.. Gl

That's gotta be tough to spend 24/7 with someone else in 30 sq ft of space.

So you can make more money but you have to deal with a partner all the time and have no privacy or personal space. I am reading that companies give preferencial treatment (loads) to teams. Is that true?

I sure hope that 45 cents number is just an example to figure how things are done and its not an actual pay to a team truck....

What would an average company pay team drivers? I was just using it as an example. To me (with my limited knowledge of trucking) it only looks like team drivers make a little more than solo drivers, someone correct me if I am mistaken.

Just seems like $1350 each per week is too low to be stuck in the truck 24 hours a day all week and trying to sleep while the other one is driving. Im a newbie so just throwing out a comment.

Some people would kill for 1350 a week ATM js but team driving is not for me. I did it for 6 months when I first started out. My teammate wife left him while he was on the truck for his cousin and he had a nervous breakdown. Come To find out she was with the cousin prior before they got married. It was crazy

54 cpm would be a minimum "fair" wage for a team. Also about standard for that larger companies. Good money, but you have to have someone you can really get along with, because you are gonna be CLOSE.....
