I have looked at the Prime website but do not see the hiring area. Looks like mostly Midwest and Northeast. I live in SoCal and am looking to move to Boise, ID in a year or so. Would Prime be a possible fit?

I read that it is iffy in that area for prime. they have a terminal in salt lake city, Utah. maybe move close to that area or if prime hire you, maybe commute?
-
Midwest-coast Transport has a terminal in Boise. It's the old Willis Shaw Express terminal. They also have their own CDL school.

Steel Maverick Thanks this. -
I know few yrs back when I was thinking about prime they said I was out of hiring area. But they bring in 15-20 loads a wk to my current job.. And saddle creek down the street from my house always has like 20 dropped trailers there.

SoCal isn't a problem for hiring... assuming you want to be on the company side. Boise on the other hand is. We don't have many shippers/receivers in the area, so home time becomes a problem. Yes, there are plenty of Prime trucks running up and down I84, but that's not the issue. It's the length of deadhead from the shippers/receivers we do have up in that area that's the problem. We do have one student from Boise in the process right now. He came in with the express understanding that he'd be required to go on the lease side after training if he expected to get home time in Boise. That being said, his current fleet manager thinks he may be able to get him in as a company driver... something we'd all prefer since leasing is a struggle for non-experienced drivers. All that can be really said at this point is we'll have to wait and see where this guy ends up at.Chucktshoes and Steel Maverick Thank this.

Thanks IronPony for the info. I'll give another look at Prime if I ever decide to go O/O.

Check back about the middle of April... this guy should be out of training by then, and we'll see where he ends up.Steel Maverick Thanks this.

They do hire company drivers from the Boise Idaho area.

Not according to both recruiting and the supervisor of reefer dispatch. If you got in as a company driver living in Boise, then you got away with something.

Prime trucks run through Boise quite a bit but it's a bad place to pickup a load worth hauling.
