The only way to make a million trucking is to start with $5,000,000 and quit when you have $1,000,000.

Most successful owner ops I met didn't buy a truck until they had many yrs under their belt as a company driver to learn the ropes.

Go drive at least 1/2 million miles as a company driver, then come back to this post you made here and re-evaluate your desires ...

That's a lot of plans for someone who doesn't have a clue. When I read this I thought someone was trying to bait us. Are you for real??
If you are being an O/O right out of school can be done. I did it. My son-in-law did it. But if you have no business experience as well as no trucking experience you will most likely fail.
If you do it I hope you make it. -
What do people pay to "learn how to drive a truck"? The best way to "learn", is to drive for someone, tell them that they dont have to pay when you are training, and you will pay and do the labor for everything you bust. You will become the best driver in your first week. After the first tire you blow on a curb, once you dismount and mount the tire on the rim, you will damb sure not do it again.
rollin coal Thanks this. -
Becoming an OO out of school is simply not realistic. Yes, you want to make the big bucks, but those days are long gone in trucking. Over the past year I've had four trucks, trying to start my fleet, never made a penny because companies want to nickle and dime you for everything. I drove company for 2 years, attempting to learn the business before I got my first truck. I learned the business and discovered the only difference from these companies is the name on the door, they are set up to win and for you to fail. Do your homework. Drive company for at least a year. Save money and go to a dealer and get your first truck, do not do the lease/purchase for any company. I wish all the best for you.
