This is quite funny you saying, "looking for a new home", and here's why.


I very often say something like, "I want to find a place to hang up my hat, and stay a while".

Ok, this ONE time I said that to the H.R. guy at a local OTR company, he said that after I interview with him, I go see the owner of the company, and I had BETTER NOT say that!

He said when a driver says that to him?

He takes it to mean you wanna put your feet up and be lazy all day, and he WILL NOT hire you!

I said, "you gotta be crapping me, right"?

He said try it, and wave good-bye as you leave.

I never tried saying it, but I still waved good-bye.

Because to me, if an owner does not want a driver to "hang his hat up", he is NOT the kind of boss/owner that wants quality drivers over steering wheel holding cheap labor.

And later, I saw that I was right. Went to the CSA website, pulled up his CSA scores, and found there to be MORE points against his company, then Carter has liver pills.

I can think of NEMF They've got a terminal in Newark. Last I saw they were taking "walk in" applications.
(mind you it's been years since I've been that way)

If your record is good you might also look into an outfit called ASA Apple, they haul Heineken out of Elizabeth.
Small outfit, don't hear much about them, but I see their rigs in the northeast a lot.
