Wat about it folks! Javon here, just wondering if anyone knows of any company's that would hire me with a 5yr.old felony for marijuana?was in the wrong place at the wrong time and went down with everyone in the house.Stupidly I pled to a felony in order to save my job at the time, which really came to bite me in the ##### now as you can see.I'm far from perfect, but no one is,and have completely changed my life around, and am no longer involved with anyone or any people of that sort.Trucking has always been my dream since I was little(all of my uncle's drove rigs and have since retired for various reasons).I am more than willing to start at the bottom and work my way up especially because of the Lil bruise on my record, all I'm looking for is a second chance at making my life better and actually doing something I love to do which is drive a rig,and actually have a career doing something that I love.I've done moths of research on this subject and would love to hear any POSITIVE FEEDBACK that could point me in the right direction. I refuse to give up on my dream because I no it's possible to have a career at this, and I'm prepared to do whatever it takes to make this happen no matter how long it takes.I've been working since I was 14 and have never quit anything in my life ,no matter what adversity I faced and I'm not about to Start now.Any info that could be provided is much appreciated.I know it won't be easy , and with a f on my report card I don't expect it to be.All I need is a point in the right direction and just a toe on the threshold and I know I can make it happen.

There are plenty of companies that will consider you as an employee, but you will need to call the companies and let them know your particular circumstance. I also have a 5 year old felony (non drug related) and several companies said it shouldn't be an issue. If you have a good work history and clean DMR you at least have a chance. I spoke to May Trucking, Schneider, Knight and Gordon Trucking - They all said that I would be ok with my particular issue. Again, mine wasn't drug related so they may have different requirements. Some will tell you NO, doesn't matter what it was. Just keep calling. Your best bets are Swift, Werner and Western Express they are not the best companies to work for but they may offer you a start.

Also, keep in mind that you will have to wait a few more years before you are able to apply for Hazmat or TWIC. And you will likely have no chance of ever entering Canada. There are a ton of driving jobs out there. Local companies, delivery and cement drivers just to name a few. If you do your research you will find something.

Good luck, keep your head up and yourself out of trouble.

FELONY for Marijuana? Holy crap! Your state sucks! You shouldn't have that much of an issue assuming that is your only problem.

Thanks Mav the last three you just listed were actually the3 I had on the top of my list to apply to based on the research I've done on here so far...What's the timeline for getting my hazmat and TWIC? And thanks for the positive comments,it's so much negative on here it's crazy.I have to keep a positive mindset because listening to the negative will do nothing for me

You are correct on the negativity. Some have a very narrow view of felons in general without knowing the details. Most of us deserve a 2nd chance IMO. Here are the guidelines for Hazmat. You may not have too much trouble with it. But something to keep in mind.

Disqualifying Criminal Offenses for Hazardous Materials Endorsement
Part A: Permanently Disqualifying Criminal Offenses:
An applicant will be permanently disqualified from holding a TWIC or a HME on a CDL if he or she was convicted or found not guilty by reason of insanity for any of the following felonies:

    1. Espionage
    2. Sedition
    3. Treason
    4. A federal crime of terrorism as defined in 18 U.S.C.2332b(g), or comparable State law
    5. A crime involving a transportation security incident
    6. Improper transportation of a hazardous material under 49 U.S.C. 5127 or a State law that is comparable
    7. Unlawful possession, use, sale, distribution, manufacture, purchase, receipt, transfer, shipping, transporting, import, export, storage of, or dealing in an explosive or explosive device
    8. Murder
    9. Making any threat, or maliciously conveying false information knowing the same to be false, concerning the deliverance, placement, or detonation of an explosive or other lethal device in or against a place of public use, a state or government facility, a public transportation system, or an infrastructure facility
    10. Violations of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, 18 U.S.C. 1961, et seq., or a State law that is comparable, where one the predicate acts found by a jury or admitted by the defendant, consists of one the offenses listed in Part A of this section
    11. Bomb threat
    12. Conspiracy or attempt to commit any of these crimes

    Part B: Interim Disqualifying Offenses
A driver will be disqualified from holding a TWIC or a HME on a CDL if he or she was convicted or found not guilty by reason of insanity within the previous seven years or was released from prison in the last five years for any of the following felonies:

    1. Unlawful possession, use, sale, manufacture, purchase, distribution, receipt, transfer, shipping, transporting, delivery, import, export of, or dealing in a firearm or other weapon
    2. Extortion
    3. Dishoesty, fraud, or misrepresentation, including identity fraud
    4. Bribery
    5. Smuggling
    6. Immigration violations
    7. Distribution of, intent to distribute, or importation of a controlled substance
    8. Arson
    9. Kidnapping or hostage taking
    10. Rape or aggravated sexual abuse
    11. Assault with intent to murder
    12. Robbery
    13. Fraudulent entry into a seaport as described in 18 U.S.C. 1036, or a comparable State law
    14. Violations of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, 18 U.S.C. 1961, et seq., or a State law that is comparable, other that the violations listed in paragraph (10) of Part A: Permanently Disqualifying Criminal Offenses
    15. Conspiracy or attempt to commit any of these crimes

Part C: Under Want or Warrant:
A driver will be disqualified from holding a TWIC or a HME on a CDL if he or she is wanted or under indictment in any civilian or military jurisdiction for a felony listed under Part A or Part B until the want or warrant is released.

Once again Mav thank you for taking the time to even send me that info.I checked out millis a few minutes ago and will probably call them tomorrow being they hav training through their company.I'm more than willing to grind it out for that experience. I'm also going to do more research on that company to see wat their all about.website says they accept felons over a yr. So all I can do is be str8 forward with them and see wat they say.if you or anyone else has any info about MILLIS TRANSFER or any other schools feel free to share.I also know every company has its ups and downs so I'm totally prepared to take the good with the bad at this point just to get that toe in..lol

Carolina Cargo in Rock Hill, SC will probably hire you, but you must graduate from a CDL school first. Give them a call. Martin Enterprises of the Carolinas also will probably also hire you. Carolina Cargo does California/West Coast turnarounds. I think Martin does the same; the only problem with Martin is they pay on 1099 so I would put them at the bottom of the list.
