I have the Garmin Dezl 760 and it has been pretty spot on so far but I also always make sure it is up to date with the hardware and maps. I have enjoyed using it so far. But everyone has different opinions and everyone seems to always have different problems with them all. Just do your research and go from there and hope the choice you make is a good one.

The Garmin units are just terrible. Completly useless devices. My co-driver had one (760) and i was with her for 3 months and we used it for the first few weeks (sid by side with my RM 730). Compared to my device it was so noticeably lousy that she actually put hers away completely and we just ran on mine.

    See #9... :p

OP: There is no "best" GPS. For every person who says that a brand/model is the "best", you'll find someone who says that it's complete crap.

Here's the industry's dirty little secret... they're all pretty much the same as far as basic GPS functions go. They all use the same base maps (from NAVTEQ), with each company doing its own "tweaks" (usually Points Of Interest [POIs]). They are all comparable in performance.

The main difference between them is in the User Interface (UI); how you (the user) operate the GPS. The menu system is VERY different between the brands. The feature sets are different. I happen to love Garmin's "Voice Command" feature; I have it in my car GPS.

In short, buy on looks, features, and price. If you're a company driver, you couldn't care less if your GPS tracks your IFTA miles, but it could be a game changer if you run under your own authority.

And remember, the GPS is just a tool; don't follow it blindly... :)

    I guess that's why they're a lot cheaper.
