Not sure where or what to do at this point? Have new CDL A on my own, not a school...

Most likely need to go to a carrier that offers training, so it'll more or less be like you went to them without a license. Any accredited school should fininace, and large carriers reimburse. It's still an option.

Prime will work with you assuming a clean driving record and background. I was in the same boat myself and they are working with me. I talked to about twelve different companies and their training program and starting pay seems to be one of the best.

If you decide on CTL Transportation, that will set you up for some great paying jobs in the future. For example, SVTN in Saraland, or Trimac which starts out at $60K-$80K per year then later to $100K+ after 2 yrs.experience.

These two guys are independent recruiters for a lot of different companies. They may be able to help you.

I think Trimac has a terminal in Penscola, so keep that in mind for the future.

hey jro Just found this thread doing some random browsing. Been wondering how this third party recruiting works. Been out of T/T for a little over a year but only had 5 months in when i stepped out (4months OTR 1 month local) but have about 23 years in straight truck. I just found the 777 # a couple nights ago for a Drive United. Came to the conclusion was recruiter just kinda afraid to call not knowing how they work if I wanted to go that route or not. Have heard some horror stories about them. whats your experience or anyone else who has gone thru 3rd party recriut?

Not sure if you are in hiring area but Maverick hires folks with just a cdl. Several guys in my orientation class did what you did and they got hired.

I have no experience with third party recruiters, but it seems to me you are far more likely to get straight answers (still with a grain of salt) from company recruiters. I'm actively looking at options to relocate back to home base (LA area) and have found Google Map searches to be very valuable. Next time I take a week off to fly home and visit my wife I have two companies lined up for interviews. Interestingly neither one accepts applications online or any other way than a fact to face meeting.
