Ok so to start fresh. If this is how they treat you now, why do think they will ever value your Heath?

I get sinus infections and toothaches quite a bit. I currently have a cracked wisdom tooth. No big deal. If it starts to throb i swish coconut oil around for 20 minutes (which actually helps quite a bit.) I am still alive. I'm also a woman, maybe that is why i can deal with it. See, i have 3 kids, no sitter, and my husband isnt home too often during weekdays. Another thing, my tooth pain didnt SUDDENLY occur. It happened because i spent years avoiding dentists, despite having dental insurance. I ignored my dental health and i deal with the consequence. Being an adult is accepting that you always have a choice, you just might not like the consequence of that choice. I will not coddle the op and say, how terrible of swift! They wont agree to let him take care of hus neglected dental hygiene on their time.

Fact 1 - every student needs to graduate with X amount of hours documented as class time.

Fact 2 - any student not getting X amount of class time doesn't graduate.

Those are the facts. Unless the OP or others chiming in on this thread think it behooves a school to make special accommodations for a student to provide instructors to review any missed class time, then this is really a moot point. Whether it's a medical emergency, family emergency, or you are local and your car broke down; if you miss any class time you are going to have to reschedule the ENTIRE school. Look at the contract you signed at the beginning.

This isn't high school with a maximum number of missed days allowed. You can't miss any class time. If you have to deal with something then deal with it after class.

IMHO the title of the thread is very misleading. It should be "Swift Academy No Absences Allowed".

Now you are saying that is because he neglected his dental hygiene? He is paying for the course, so I think he has a vested interest in being there.

I had sinus infections for all my life, plenty of doctors... finally ended up having 20 hours of my face taken apart to resolve the infections.

So what happens when he gets sick on the road? Pull his pants up and drive sick? DOT does have rules about that.

Just because you neglected your health it is okay for him to neglect his?

As for pain, it does not matter if a man or woman. I dropped a chainsaw twice on my leg in the same spot and finished what I had to do then went to the doctor. I just happen to have a high pain tolerance.

Yes. DOT has regulations. If he is too ill to drive it is his responsibility to inform his dm and as a result, he loses pay. Swift has offered to allow him to start over at a later date if he feels he is too ill to continue. He has a choice. As for payment, swift has their own arrangement and if he choses to leave and not return, he will have to pay for the time they invested in him. My husband didnt fail, so i dont know if they prorate people that choose not to complete or return or fail.

And as for the neglect, i am assuming the tooth did not suddenly become infected, and he already has neglected his health.

i'm gonna assume the guy that dropped a chainsaw on his leg twice in the same spot is dumb and dumber...since he obviously should not have been holding the chainsaw to begin with...

Not going into the whole story.... I am not a Rambo by any means. The blade was almost completely stopped and it cut through just the skin and into some of the fat under. No massive bleeding, in fact none at all. I cleaned it up and dressed it before I went to the doctor... I have had EMT training in the past. Just one not to get all hysterical and run around with an injury.
