What do you consider Job Hopping?

    Really depends on company and recruiting policy. Run into a guy 4 or 5 times a year and always with a different company.

    I have to confess though, I did break that rule once.
    There was a carpentery shop I'd pass on a regular basis on the way to a customer (both ways).
    One time I got a really crappy paycheck (or maybe I had words with dispatch? I can't remember)
    Since by the time I got back to the yard, punched out, got in my car and drove back down the carpenter would be closed, I decided to stop in.

    I tried to put the truck where it wouldn't be seen and it took forever to hike from the truck lot to the HR office, but I did it.

    Thing was, at the end of the day, it was the same pay with LESS home time and more physical work.
    So, pass.

    (I should point out that it WAS a trucking job for delivery of finished products. I wasn't going for a carpentry position.)

    To me a job hopper would be someone quitting a decent job like an ltl job and going back to truckload or quitting a Walmart job for Jb hunt or somebody similar. Don't think quitting these minimum wage truckload carriers for another is job hoping. It's just a wet behind the ear driver that's clueless of what's out there. Lots of so called job hoppers stop hoping when the price is right.

    I won't say they were at orientation but I have seen other carrier bobtails at our terminal.

    Driving another carriers truck to an interview wouldn't really be a bad thing. If I wanted a job with a company whose terminal was a long way from house it may be the only option. I still wouldn't have to start at the new company, if I accepted a position they offered, until I gave a proper 2 week notice and returned their truck in good condition. And doing it that way, I wouldn't have a gap in employment to explain. And it seems many companies are more interested in a prospective employee if he or she is still employed than if they are unemployed. Now, arriving for orientation with another companies truck that you just planned to abandon isn't a good thing.

    Job hoppers are the guys who jump in head first into piles of poop again & again, they usually believe anything a recruiter tells them and never look any further than the truck stop ads of pictures of pretty road units..... Even for a rookie there are alot of avenues, if they would just learn what to do with that CDL.... Even if I take a worthless job, I play the game with them while my feelers out & wait until the right time, then I blow lots of smoke up the bosses behind and leave on a good note, this works to my advantage in the long run because I have less work history, a clean MVR, dac report and such in my book there's no sense in jumping around job to job when you can make things work more for yourself, sure you can tell your OM what a real low life he is and all that and then jump into the next pile of pooop but that's only because you don't know how to be slick & smooth to get what you want, take it from an old fart who is still tearing it up and she still wonders why she likes it so much or how my old boss wishes he had not been playing with my $...... I just call it WD40 if I had a name for doing this kind of business, I would say it's a very professional way of ending up with a decent job to hang onto and at my foxy old age , I don't have alot of time to be peeing into the wind anyway, life on the highway wasn't for me so I never bothered buying equipment and I might add neither is the head ack of running my own equipment....ok I'm done with my afternoon sit time, gotta jump in the shower, eat dinner and horrass this beautiful young blonde wife of mine,still to this day she's not quite sure about me and like I said "WD40" still working hard for me, it always keeps em guessing & a guy can get effective results every time.... We have a few guys here that show up to orientation in someone else's truck but we make them pay the tow bill if they want to work here.....so most of them just leave and eventually get arrested after the company report's the truck stolen.

    Yeah this set off my BS alarm as well.

    Showing up with another companies truck & trailer was not the problem , it was the offer to start right away after DITCHING the other COMPANIES EQUIPMENT , if he did it to them likely do it to me as well.
