How do you fuel?

Company driver, so I put in what the dispatch tells me I put in. Then I stomp my right foot 5 times, turn in a complete circle, hang up the nozzle 3 times.... I kid, I KID!

I fill until I cannot get anymore into the tanks. at times not long ago, when drinks & showers were given for a 50 gal min but not anymore if you doubled the gallons. I have at the loves pumped 50 gal. shut off pump. restart pump till fill up & get the benefits I deserve & paid for.

 

The reason the price is always something like, for example 3.199, is it sounds cheaper than 3.20, at least this is how it was explained to me back in the early 80's

 

That's exactly correct, and you'll see this with pricing on many things. $X.98 or $X.99 always seems to many people to be less than $X+1.00.

Doesn't $9.98 seem less than $10.00?

At least that's the theory, and why pricing is done that way.

 

the price of .99 cent for something is taxed a little different than 1.00. The tax rate for here used to be 7 cents on the dollar for general stuff i have not paid much thought of it lately, to it if its something i need i buy it. but i used to watch stuff like crazy down to the price per oz at Walmart. You be surprised you can buy some stuff 1/3 more of the weight for half the price if you go off the total weight priced per oz.

I open the fuel tank cap and put the fuel nozzle in the tank then squeeze the lever.



I fuel based on true cost and fuel economy. I put in enough fuel to get me to the next lower/lowest cost area that fits with my next planned stop. In the summer I will run the tanks right down to empty, but in the winter I keep a 1/4 tank buffer in populated areas and 1/2 tank in remote areas (300 g total). This only works if you know what your true fuel economy is under any given load condition and how accurate the fuel gauge reading is.

Sometimes my calculator smokes from doing so many calculations.
