Mine went from 12.5 to 7.5 and the biotch PA still gave me a 3 month card. The fat pig smokes like a chimney guy that went in with me got two years. Why? No diabetes.
His day will come...

10.5 A1C is quite high.....I think the cutoff is/was 6.3 for diagnosis....MD likes to see it 7 or under.....I was running 6.2 and then got serious about it....First thing I did was count the sugar grams I took in every day...A healthy male should take in no more then 36 gr a day, that's not much at all....For a diabetic, shoot for 12 g or under....Just as an example, one 20 oz coke or mtn dew has 71 gr.....8 oz of milk has 12 g....Tablespoon of ketchup has 4 gr....Limit the carbs too, especially breads, pasta, etc....Most everything we eat, and tastes good, has a significant amount of sugar & fat in it... Watching the diet and exercise is essential, diet limits the sugar and exercise burns it out of the blood stream....I had a bad habit of eating something just before hitting the sack, no good comes from that....
Hopefully, you'll make out ok...Last I knew, it used to be ok to take pills to help control it and still drive, but shots were out....I wish you the best and hope you get it under control....Take it serious and stick with it....Meanwhile, I'd be looking for a driving job local..... -
mine is 6.7 and just did get a two year medical card. all you need is to be under a doctors care, and try and lower your a1c count. if you are over 200 on your glucose meter you can not drive, and with that high of a1c count you had to be over 200 most of the time. have had this condition for over 25 years it is not the end of the world, but you are going to have to get it under control. if you dont have a blood glucose meter go to walmart and buy a meter. a meter is 12 bucks,100 test strips 18 bucks, lancets about 4 bucks per 100. get the ReliOn brand works just as good as the expensive brands.if you have any questions send me a private msg and will help you if i can. lots of luck

Lots of great advise, it takes a little time, diet and exercise, and before you know it, your A1C will be down. stick with it. most will agree, its a B#### in the beginning.

I had to go for a glucose test last year. I finally got to normal levels just before time expired. My doc said not to worry. He said you are diabetic....... or your not.
Do any of you people get severe headaches drinking that sugary drink for the test? I honestly thought my head was going to explode. -
Have not had to drink anything for a A1C test, usually checks blood with a finger stick, then uses the same for A1C test.

This exactly what im doing now "JUICING" !!!! And my glucouse drop right away. Its been around 83, 88, 92 all cuz of juicing. And I still have my Coke here and there BUT the Mexican Coke(Real Sugar). The key to juicing is having it made with all green vegetables with "CACTUS" added and have them add an apple or orange for taste. Also your not suppose to store it, Juice and drink on the spot. My glucouse before juicing was hanging around 130 average with meds. And like its been said here many times, changed of diet it a must. Trust me, you get used to it and thats all you will look for once you adjusted to changed. Forgot to mention, "CINNAMON", is controls your sugar.TomOfTx Thanks this.

I thought I would pass this on and it goes to show how corruption can really throw you a loop.
someone previously mentioned something about the Diabetes Association.
Well that got me thinking and I'm always curious about these "associations" and whether they have your welfare at heart. Let's just say I'm suspicious.
I come to find out that this lot are given substantial amounts of $$ by.......you guessed it, the food manufacturers and Big Pharma.
I read about this guy who was in "pre-diabetes" mode and he showed up at this Associations bike ride one day. And he was amazed and disgusted to find that free snacks were being offered.
amongst them were.......
Dunkin Donuts.
M&Ms
Shocking but true.
You've got to do your own research, get serious about diabetes because it can be fatal.
And nobody else is looking out for your welfare......only you.
Good luck.Diesel Dave Thanks this. -
mine varies from 6.5 to 7.1, is controlled by 1.2 metformin 2x per day, diet and exercise

went today for my medical card renewal, Dr. only gave me a 1yr card, nothing to do with diabetes, but because I'm on BP meds, even at the lowest dose, new regs say it can only be a 1 yr card. Nice guy, spent as much time BS'ing with me as he did checking me out, actually had more of a concern because I didn't get my eyes checked in 2014, as a diabetic, supposed to go every yr, didn't have time last year. Told me that if I skip 2015 (already scheduled for April), he won't give me a card next year.
