for every action...there is a reaction..do recruiters lie? Some do..I remember a few years back I went to work for Schneider specialized.( old IT). They had a guy their for orientation who didn't even have a license..and we didn't have any students..many companies do not pull up your DAC or DMV printout until they tell you to come to work..don't ask me why..if your worried about your DAC ..go to work for a small company..they treat you better most of the time as they can't afford to play games..

I don't feel bad. I can't when people make mistakes and then blame everyone else.

That's right. If X-Country was like, "hey, I made mistakes, This is the deal", I totally understand. Hell, I made mistakes. Nobody is perfect. But, she's gonna get attorneys and sue this one and that one, and then called me stupid for politely pointing out what she did wrong, I don't feel bad. Not even a little.

The thread needed closed. Driver's in a predicament that will take time for her to work her way out of. Darn unfortunate for her. Also, sad that others get off on making sport of it. I don't know what that has to do with lowering the minimum driving age; doesn't matter, really.

Begs the question of who needs to grow up here...

Back to this thread. As I see it, the problem with lowering the minimum age is HOS. There are a LOT of 18-year-olds a LOT more mature than some who CLAIM a LOT more chronological years and would probably be great drivers in time if their duties and HOS were appropriately limited.

But it's not going to happen. You would tier people in as they grew in skill and experience. Set up milestones where once qualified to do task A you then qualify to learn and do B. Might start on the dock and do some yard hostling, then simple, short local intercity trailer moves, maybe sent out to clean some local pickups or deliveries for limited hours, then regional terminal to terminal and on up. That's not the mega business model for new drivers with their 100% turnover, now is it?

More like just get as many as possible some minimum training and throw 'em in and grind them up!

I'm not following Vic, are you suggesting than younger drivers should have less HOS than older drivers?

Seems backwards. I worked 16-17 hour days delivering furniture during summer breaks, then went back to school in the fall where I'd pull the occasional all-nighter to meet a deadline. Working long hours was much easier when young...
