That's a good way to get started these days, hook up with a company and get their training gratis. Roehl has been in the business a long time so you can't go wrong there. I was lucky, when I started my friend had his own rig and we teamed up for awhile. He signed the papers saying I had the experience and I got my, what they called back then in NJ, my "auto-articulated " license. And the rest as they say is history.

Talked to the people at PAM. Didn't realize I'd have to team for 6 months after getting my CDL. That doesn't appeal to me AT ALL. Riding around with a stranger for 6 months? Living in a truck? You must be nuts. And it seems this is pretty standard with companies that offer "paid" CDL training. Anyone know of any companies that allow you to solo after training? I wouldn't mind being in the truck with a trainer a few months. But with a rookie? Who I don't know? Recipe for disaster. I want to be in control of the equipment I'm assigned to operate. I wouldn't be able to sleep knowing this person was behind the wheel!
