Best thing you can do is start calling companies, and being perfectly honest with them. I have seen a few companies that will not hire a felon, and even more that will provided that all obligations concerning the charge have been taken care of and completed. The conviction is 7 years old, be sure to include that in your statement. Do internet searches to all the big ones....except JB Hunt of course. And start making calls. They need drivers, and you need to drive. Work with them.
You messed up. But it's doesn't mean you can't drive a truck. -
i would say you're pretty much "toasted" now. drug possession is the biggest "no-no" in the trucking world.
best to find another occupation. -
there's probably not a trucking company in america that would touch you with a ten foot pole...i just looked at a few companys app before i posted this and they ALL ask "have you ever been convicted of a felony and if yes for what" drugs are a like rerun said, a BIG NO-NO in trucking. You could maybe work for billy joe jim bobs trucking company but the major carriers will not touch you. It would be a crap shoot to say the least and for the kind of money you spend for the cdl i wouldnt take the chance.

hey give me till tonight and ill post alot that will hire felons and some that dont ask b/c they run a check anyway my boss told me his checks are most often 3/5/7 years but if your felony is from california they cant report it after its seven years old he told me to tell you to go to www.privacyrights.org and it will tell you everthing you need to know that ca. cant report a felony 7 years old and theres even a few other states as well but most states report felonies indefinitly and most that wont hire you go to canada and they wont mess with it . he said if its over 7 years theres hundreds that will hire you and in the next month alot of them will hire you also as trucking picks up just prove yourself and and when it slows down they know who to keep my boss wont hire theives/sexual assualts/any recent drug convictions but we have several drivers with drug convictions hauling gaseoline making 50k a year but thier convictions are all aleast seven yrs old and i would hire every one of them if i owned this company they have shown that they do as good or better that most of our drivers i train every driver that comes to work for us/ not to drive but for 3 weeks just showing them the ropes and getting them certified at all the terminals they appreciate the chance and my boss is agreat employer if you can get a hazmat most companies know you have been fully checked for criminal convictions and i think not for sure but drug convictions after 7 years old can get hazmat if its ok for homeland security to trust you why not any company it might be late tonight have several stops but i wont forget you!
