I have noticed that there are a lot of people who would prefer not to use I-95 north of Virginia. what is the reason? The terrain, traffic, lack of services, rude drivers, weather, all of the above?

North of Richmond gets to be quite the circus sometimes. I'd rather cross the Potomac on US 301 than on 95. I prefer to drive through southern MD than northern VA.

301 over on the eastern shore makes for a nice ride too, as opposed to 95 through Baltimore.

The last few times I have been on 95 north of Richmond, it just seemed to be a constant flow of traffic with alot of people changing lanes like they were on a race track. You had to keep looking everywhere for something to happen. It was a stressful time on the road. I always look for alternate routes and for times that might be less traffic if no way around it.

Pull into the center of town - stop and that big honking building with the dome on top. That's a rest area, ain't it? Leastaways, I've never heard of anybody actually working there...

The only part I like about I-95 is the bridge crossing the St. Mary River back into Florida.

I have only driven a 4 wheeler in that area, but it is a nightmare at best with the traffic once you get north of Richmond! I'd rather travel on any other highway to get where I am going than to go through there!
