Getting live unload at Macy's DC in Denver. This is a good case study on why it's a good idea to use Google Street View and Satellite View before going to a customer. The address is on 51st Street, and that's where the GPS sends you. In Street View you can see a sign on the 51st street entrance that says, "Truck Entry is on 50th Street". Knowing that beforehand saved a lot of headache getting turned around to get back to 50th Street.

This is one of those warehouses that was built way before 53' trailers. The fence and curb in front of the docks doesn't leave much room at all. I disconnected after getting into the dock to make it easier for the next drivers to get into their docks.

Another aspect of this location is there is no apparent place to park before checking in with Receiving. Having been here once before I backed into a vacant spot 100 yards from the receiving door in order to be out of the way of drivers trying to get into a dock. It's always a cluster here, with drivers parking in the narrow area in front of the docks and blocking maneuvering room for drivers trying to dock.

Always think ahead about where you are going to park before checking in so you aren't in the way of other drivers doing what they need to do. Makes it more efficient overall for the operation so everyone gets in and out quicker.

I'm finally out of the SLC shop.
I must say, this is probably the best place to get a b-service. They do it in the inspection lane so there is no wait time once you get in.
I lucked out. There was only one truck in front of me, and he just needed fuel.

I got a plan just after I set my pta. Headed to Littleton, CO with a Costco load.

The downside of being able to get a B-service in the inspection line is being BEHIND the guy getting the B-service in the inspection line. My last time in SLC was an anomaly, no wait time with and open door and wave me in and only 10 minutes in inspection. Every other time the average wait to get into inspection has been 45-60 minutes, and usually it's behind a B-service.

The Macy's warehouse in Denver took just shy of six hours to unload me. Floor loaded and hand unloaded. Drivers waiting in the cluster were waiting for my dock and they were already 2 hours late getting a dock by the time I pulled out. When I say cluster, seems like every driver pulling into the yard pulls right over to get as close to the Receiving door as possible, making it impossible for drivers to get in or out of docks. Took me five minutes just to get out to a place I could close my doors and do my empty call.

Sitting in the dusty lot at Johnson's Corner. Have a live load nearby tomorrow early a.m.

Here in Lathrop now. Sowed up at the receiver this morning and walked in and said happy that I made it on time. He just looked at me like, WTF. Told me that no one contacted him to tell him that we were coming in today. Luckily he said he can unload. YeeHaw. CSR strikes again. The vendind machines have changed since I was here about 3 years ago. Then you needed some type of card. Now I see that you just get your food, swipe it under some reader and then insert your debit or credit card. The only good news was that I thought that I might have to wait for another DOT inspection. The Shop Forman just told me that after I get the glass replaced in the morning, just come in and show the receipt and he will then approved and sign off on the other one that was a few days ago and send that in and get me off hold. Then wait and see what kinda load. Was being told today that a lot of short ones going mostly no where.

Petro exit 245 on I-65 in Indiana; stopped for a 30 and some fuel. I just witnessed a hit and run. Averitt Express pulled his trailer across the back of a Baylor trailer. He stopped for a moment and then peeled out the back exit with the Baylor driver running after him. Baylor driver got nothing, couple of other drivers that heard/saw it got nothing, and I snagged the trailer number of the Averitt.

Baylor driver was very grateful. I gave him my info incase police, his company, or Averitt, need a witness. Averitt also left a chunk of aluminum scrapings from his trailer behind. No apparent damage to the Baylor trailer.

I really should pick up a dash cam sometime.

Why would the Baylor driver even report it if he has no damage?

I was told to use lane 2 or 3 for the b-service.
Lanes 1 and 4 should be faster if you don't need anything special.

Personally I think we need more police here.

But, the ModSquad won't allow very much for very long.

Finally got the load t-called off in Montebello, Cali after the DM found out ECT left me sitting all weekend. Now I'm trying to get one out that doesn't weigh 45k to head home. Still haven't decided if I'm going to transfer out of Lancaster, but definitely looking for a new DM.
