I am just curious as to what information a company like Prime would get from doing a background check. I have nothing to hide, I just want to know.
I know the basics, such as:
Criminal Records
Civil Judgments
Bankruptcies
Professional Licenses
Tax Liens
Sex Offenders
But what about things such as educational records, medical records, and military records?
Are they going to look at these as well?
If so, why? What is it about these three items that they would want to know?
What kind of background checks will a trucking company perform?

If you told them you were in the military they might want to see your DD214. If you disclose medical information to them they might want answers but Hippa laws protect your privacy so it wont show up on background. If it was me I would only disclose information they have to have. For example if I take blood pressure medicine I don't tell them that. If they ask me who my primary Physician is I tell them I don't have one. Good luck hope you have a great experience.

I am unfamiliar with these laws, that is interesting. I don't have any conditions or anything. Just as to if was something they would look at. I am really trying to figure out. Why is a background check for them $100, when I pay $19.00 and get the information they are going to get, that is why I wondered if there was more to it. Oh well, I will just bight the bullet, Prime is a good company to get flatbed experience for a couples years before I go O/O.
I know a lot about O/O because of my uncle and being with him countless summers. -
Uh Oh...I was just asked by my CDL school what, if any, meds I was taking and I told them high blood pressure drugs. Did I screw up?

Most will look at MVR, psp (CSA score or estimation of score) criminal, and even a credit score. They may want to see your driving school gpa and certificate of completion and a 10 year employment history is what they will be looking for. Each company must tell you exactly what they are looking for.

No, just be careful what you tell the Dr. giving you your DOT physical. One student of mine told the Dr. that he snored and it took him a YEAR to get a medical clearance. Be truthful, but be careful on what you say. ask questions.!!!!!!!

There is going to a point in time when ALL companies and corporations will want to know everything about you from day one. This will include any and all "skeletons in your closet", along with all personal and private matters, that you do NOT want exposed.

Just let it all out! You got nothing to loose! In fact, it seems like that's all that gets hired anymore: ex-cons, current-cons, ex-felons, wanted felons, deadbeats, losers, 29 year old's that just crawled outta mom's basement etc etc. Get my point? It's a great industry, and the few of us who don't fit into the category above are brought down by those in that same category.

I have to renew my medical card in a few months and the Doctor isn't getting any information that he can use to bog me down.
