View attachment 80146 I didn't get a clear photo of that casting number! I'm gonna have to drive back to where my truck is parked and figure out how to get the picture and make the numbers clear. Mine are kinda rusty. Know any tricks? Maybe I could try to fit a wire brush in there???

Here is a shot of my truck engine from the turbo side. How can I determine if I have a radiator type that can be converted from low flow to high flow by removing baffle plates?

View attachment 80150 I'm having trouble uploading and posting. Sometimes they upload....sometimes they don't. Sometimes it take a while to appear!

SmokingCat: Found my book (1981 edition) NTC475 is a compound turbo, I stand corrected. The other could have been an N14. I did not mean to give misinformation or create an argument. My basic thought was to relay that Cummings offered these engines in much higher ratings than 315's and warrantied them to everyone, even flat footers. An engine can often be built to a higher rating with little financial increase over a regular rebuild. Add a little fuel and RPM and impressive power and economy can be received from these engines while retaining dependability. Add some more fuel, RPM, open the air ways (air intake and exhaust) add pixie dust and they can be very impressive but definently require an operator. The cat CAC and radiator change into this model truck and engine is interesting and could make it affordable. Then I read a bunch of posts simular to what I heard about from a salesman in Paris Ohio 20 years ago " Well if that's not enough there's a man in this area who puts in ceramic pistons, special turbo, etc and guaranties 750 HP. Is not retarding timing to lower cylinder temperature counter productive. Has anyone out there got 500,000 on one of these? Maybe i am wrong about this also. I started enjoying this site, sometimes I may learn something and another time I may help someone but why did I step in this for someone wanting to get ahead of traffic? Trucks will be trucks, cars will be be cars, you will never be able to space yourself from most of them and some of them will always be stupid. Why not go with the relax and enjoy it crowd? I am basically intersted in the tips and trick to this engine because I use it as a lowboy in the mountains. I need to pull hills at the speed limit to keep traffic from piling up behind me and panicking. It actually can be for safety. I'm not truck pulling. But when I go borrow a detach with all the goodies.....it gets heavier. And I compare how weak my truck is to the 6nz cat trucks I drive with hop ups. I want something close to that power but those guys with those trucks.....constant money and expense. I don't use my truck all day everyday. Once or twice a week to move. I don't need that cost. A 379 Pete with that motor....expensive......
