My father used to own a house trailer sales lot in Michigan back in the early 50s. He would deliver 40 foot house trailers from Michigan to Florida with a old Hudson Terra plane car.
Back when everything was 2 lanes.
One night going thru a 1 horse town in Georgia on a snowy night a women slid into the back of one of his trailers and took out the rear section. Cops showed up and my dad pointed out that the women was falling down drunk .
That landed him 3 nights in jail until my grandfather could get there to bail him out and get the car and trailer out of impound. He was charged with towing in unsafe conditions.
The drunk women was the Police chiefs wife.

Thanks Danvitt, I see where you are coming from. It seems people want to hear things that deal with " maximum results". It's much more interesting (to some) to hear about 18 wheelers creaming a mini-van full of children coming home from church, than say, the geese are flying north, signalling the end of winter. While the danger does exist for trucks to do a lot of damage, the reality of it is, 3% of the time, it can be tense, while 97% of the time, it's a boring job, where nothing happens. I guess you can't let your guard down, because it's kind of like the lottery, you might just win.

i live every day like that
even when i am not driving a truck, you never know when your time is it, so make the best of what you have in front of you
try not to get angry, forget about revenge, enjoy the moment, treat people well,, keep God firstDanvitt Thanks this. -
um, no.. I was actually on here not to long ago being butt raped by some of the guys here for saying I won't drive when I can't see (dense fog), and for saying pull over when its a skating rink. I'm am very aware that things can happen that are just out of my control, but you can bet your bottom dollar as a control freak I will be doing everything possible thing to avoid hitting anyone.
Btw, I don't think I can I drive....... I KNOW I can. What did people do back in the day?.. You want to drive a truck the boss hands you set a keys and says here you go.. Don't SCREW UP MY TRUCK... There wasn't any school, there wasn't any here let me hold your hand and give you a trainer for 2 months BS.
Having a trainer with some experience is a VALUABLE BONUS. But its not necessary. What separates me from you or anyone else? You have experience so your likely to have run into something a dozen or more times before. You know what to do. YOur gonna be quicker. I'm gonna be left scratching my head for a few minutes. Then I'm gonna come up with a SOLUTION, then I'm gonna get the job done. No biggie. Just gonna take me a bit longer. I'm one of the few people left in this world who can actually think for themselves. I firmly believe if you need a trainer for 3 months, then you don't need to be driving."semi" retired Thanks this. -
Yep.
Even thought I've never done it, I KNOW I can pop the top the top of of your head and go in there and fix things. Experience don't count for nothing heck I might scratch my head for a few minutes but I'll figure it out. I am one of those few people left in this world that can figure stuff out. It just comes natural to me. I am not an immature, arrogant, ignorant, idiot.....not me..I am awesome. No biggie.
I am done here. Pearls before swine and all that. BOL to you. -
I'd like to meet your fat sister, and for the record? She might need that 10 foot pole to KEEP ME AWAY.>!!
-
Who says experience doesn't count for something? You keep adding stuff and I keep putting holes in your arguments all night. Just because someone is experienced doesn't mean I'm gonna hang on your every word. You get so many points for being experienced right off that bat, then after you open mouth you either get points added or taken away. I'm sorry you needed someone to hold your hand throughout your life. It's kind of whats wrong with America. It's a truck. Not a spaceship.

I would just like to add that I'm jealous. can't even get my bike out of the driveway yet. LOL it's mud season now. long gravel drive makes for lousy traction getting to road.
saddest truck wreck I have ever seen was a guy took his 3 yr old on a run with him. then apparently tried to push harder than he should. fell asleep and went over a bridge. killed both.
saddest bike wreck I have seen was losing a friend of mine in NC. got caught on a guardrail doing the parkway. Hard part was he was going to ride it after talking to me about it that day. Last thing I told him was stay within your ability.
over the years I have had a lot of driver friends and a lot of biker friends. now days I have a lot less biker friends left.
both vehicles can and do kill others, the hard part is that usually if you kill or maim someone on your bike it is your passenger or someone in your group. someone you knew or loved.Danvitt Thanks this. -
When I had my bikes, I put them in storage in late October, and they stayed there till mid-late April. Too much road salt/sand, and potholes with the gravel from them, all over the roads.
