Hoping someone can shed some knowledge on me about a problem I'm having with this transmission. Just put a new clutch and clutch bearing into this less than 20k miles ago.Flywheel was turned at the time and all was good. I was heading up I95 during a snowstorm so it was shifting through the gears as I slowed and sped up. Get to the TA just above Richmond and as I go through the lot I hear a loud bang ( loud enough my buddy on the phone heard it) and it said it was in gear but just revved like it was in neutral. Hit the button to get it out of gear and pushed shifter forward and went right back into gear. Did the same thing about three more times before I parked. Got out and checked everything I could. No leaks nothing.
Shut off truck sit for a few start back up and do a loop around the truckstop and it shifts up and down fine. Get backout onto the highway and it shifts and then revs.Put it in neutral and back into gear and run the next 70 miles with seemingly no problem although the lowest it downshifted was to 10th. Hit the scale and as I'm circling around back it starts to do the same thing. As I come past the rest area I pull over and shut the truck off.Restart it and try to shift into gear. The display says its shifts into 3rd but all it does is grinds like the clutch isn't engaging and if I hit the fuel it just revs. When I shift back into neutral it grinds the same way.Has anyone ran into this before or have any idea what could be the issue. Most places I know don't deal with the Meritor autos so figured I'd put it out there to anyone who may know something.
Thanks for any and all info anyone can give me.

I Had electrical problem not related to yours, however tech from ZF suggested to remove dust cover or whatever they call it on this transmission and check for actuator movement , which means if actuator is moving fork back and forth. You might need help from other person to engage shifter while you look from underneath. Good luck
Dakota1358 Thanks this. -
Seems to me u have worn clutch servo valve. There are four valves two slow and two fast/
If valve stucks shifting may be rought sometimes. If TCU cant float gears, especially skipping gears, it uses double clutching. So clutch is used for shifting too,Dakota1358 Thanks this. -
I appreciate the replies. Its been sitting at the shop for 2 weeks now "waiting in line". Luckily I'm home but hate to lose the income.

New on the forum here. We have a zf freedomline, was slowing down to turn a corner n beepers n codes went off, truck shifted into high gear and would not shift down, had to stall it to shut it off! Now its stuck in gear, wont start and no codes come up and no power to shifter? Spent all day pulling n checking fuses and wire connectors? Any ideas out there???
