If you know that you are overweight, do you blow past the scale house?

Heck, I don't even like going near the scales when I'm EMPTY! I'm usually on a pretty tight schedule, and I just don't have time for their BS.

Find a way around. I run the northeast so I am pretty familiar with all the ways around. Hell a fully loaded trailer on my acct is around 18, 000 lbs of product and I still try to find a way around the scales. Not worth my time to deal with it

I have before when my slider was jacked up. Knew I couldn't move it. Slowed down to let the ramp fill, jumped in behind a mega whom I guessed would get a green light and kept on trucking!

Once in Ms I was running late for an appt and the cb was buzzing about Level 1's at the coop. Got close and saw 4-5 getting the work over. Blew past and before I got past the get on I saw him hightailing it. Oh how I wished I was invisible!

I'm thinkin' it's not necessarily a "need" to ask
as it is wanting to ask. If nuthin' else, it should
be an interesting read. Could even be informative
    and/or educational.
One never knows unless/until one asks.
The dumbest question is the one not asked.

    Too true.
Here in the Golden State runnin' a scale-house is severely frowned upon.
Doin' so, even accidentally, will result in heavy fines. Considering the
sophisticated monitoring systems using camera optics that are nothin
short of fantastic quality, --- with Image/Face recognition, I'd think
the odds weren't in my favor.
Show the seein' eye bloodhound a scent of what something or someone
looks like and the hound will bay when the object is located. Automated.
Could be usin' drones in the near future.
    A Bear-In-The-Air---Eye-In-The-Sky. Watchin'.

I know the scales in my lo-SoCal area,
    (Hwy 91 Peralta Platform, I-15 @ Rainbow and I-10 @ Banning) are
    known to chase down fly-bys. The CHP are like Canadian Mounties;
they always get their man, or woman.
So,.......... if it were me 2,000 lbs over in California and a scale
loomed ahead -- with no bail out route available, I'd go with the
over gross penalties and associated bovine excrement.
Not always a case of "wanna" be that much overweight.
Example; got loaded and scaled. Very heavy 80,010 with full fuel.
Start out knowin' I'll burn off some weight in fuel, I begin my trip.
Come time to fuel, I decided it'd be best if I scaled again to
determine how many gallons I can take on as I'd be crossin' the
first scale open since I started the trip. Scale read my weight to
be 78,960. Plenty of room for enough fuel to prevent runnin' dry
goin' up the north side of the Grapevine. I pumped 75 gallons.
Just to be safe, I went with a re-weigh. The scale measured
81,500. Pretty heavy diesel fuel. Lady at the fuel counter said,
"oh, it's been doin' that all day".
    So which weigh was correct?
Figurin' the fuel weighed around 500 --> 550 pounds, the gross
    should be 'round 79,460 --> 79,500 pounds.
I figured, what's the use of another trip across the outta whack
scale? It was what it was at that point.

    Decision time.
What would y'all do in a like situation?
    All things considered. :smt017:dontknow:
    :confused4:

Take my chances and find out if CAT really stands behind their ticket policy! Though you should burn plenty on the run up!
