I wanted to go to Tx but from the looks of oil prices lately Im kinda rethinking that notion. My question to the LTL guys is what is home time like? Thru the house between loads Weekends or a straight 34 hr reset? Not to worried about working the load Been unloading freight for over 20 yrs

Typical drop lot LTL drivers are usually home everynight. At worst maybe 1 night out a week. But, all drop yards vary. However, if your doing LTL at a Plant like North Carolina, you'll be in and out of the plant 3-4 times a week getting your loads, but typical hometime for them is weekends (when your 70 runs low).. They company tries to avoid on the road restarts at all cost, as they pay layover pay of it occurs. Most commonly its is a monday-Friday job as thats when most customers recieve their loads. LTL guys knock out 75-90k a year..It's a good gig for some ppl that dont mind unloading 100-250 peices of furniture a day..bigchuckie Thanks this.

I will check on insurance when I get in. Home time will depend on the area you service. In our DC we have day cabs that are home most every night. Regional drivers/sleeper cabs may be home 1-2 days during the week, but most times are out all week. Have always been home for the weekend, most times home Fri eve and leave out Sun eve or Mon morning depending on the run. This is on the LTL side.
