Hello i am looking to get my CDL A license, I been searching and searching and seen bad reviews about mostly all the schools. Does anyone have a good idea of a good school or could tell me about their experience at a trucking school and would you recommend or not. Please and thank you

Where is your location; city/state. There's schools all over the nation.
Are you looking for private CDL school or trucking company CDL school? -
For me I looked for.....accredited, number of students in class at once, price, length of course, companies that recruit from this school, close to home.
Cheaper is not always better, but remember they are just helping you get your license not training you for real world driving(except a company cdl course). I had a great experience with the Tech school I attended 20 miles from my house. Oh the training should be no less than 160hrs. Yes I would recommend mine and right after I finished they sent me a lot of jobs(local) of companies wanting to hire from the school.
Good luck!Last edited: Mar 14, 2015

If you are anywhere near Smithfield, NC then Johnston Community College is top-notch. It's a tough program but it's well respected..
ncmickey Thanks this. -
Thank you everyone, I live in delaware I waa looking for trucking company schools but I find all negative feed back. mtc trucking company reached out to me but they got negative feedback from all over. I have been looking at the accredited, classroom teacher student ratio, job placement, and the length of class just to name a little bit really every school I look into seems like they are not good.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Stay away from roadmaster the recruiter straight up lies to you. Your told on the phone financing is around 6 or 7 grand but when you get there and start signing all the papers it turn out to be just shy of 15 grand and 7 or 8 months to pay it back

Chinatown Did u go to Henderson trucking? If so how was your experience
Chinatown Thanks this. -
No, I went to a 10 day school in Tennessee. You don't need the long drawn out school just to drive a truck; keep it simple and cheap. 160 hrs. is recommended for more job choices, but shorter schools also are OK, just fewer choices of companies.
Here's a thread on Henderson:
almost to Henderson's cdl school.Enovvy Thanks this.
