I am just thinking about it for now. I would still keep mine. I think this has a pre emission, pre e.g.r. ser 60. over the years loss wages to down time was worse than the cost of repairs, that is why I would most likely keep my ole truck. just put a lot into int lately, the last couple years. just 10 new tires last 3 months. thought about maybe getting this truck for $15,000 I know it has just under a mil miles, but I can have that engine inframed for $ 6,800 plus tax. would hope to drive for 1 -2 years before that. last year was really good. getting close to not having enough to write off.

Main thing I'll ask is what are you looking to do with it and do you have money available to the repairs? With that many miles and that small of a sleeper I'd wonder if there is that much "value" left in the truck meaning resale. That old of a truck I'd assume it is going to be a cash deal.
-
^That SMALL of a sleeper?? 70" not enough?
I wouldn't buy it: but I'm a truck snob apparently lol
Are you uncomfortable with the idea of a daycab? Being that you're home every nite, are you thinking that might change now that your carrier lost that one haul?
Im im sure you could make that truck work for you-might take some big work in the not too distant future tho. -
I run 400 miles a day round trip. but that could end at any time. if I bought truck, I would drive one 1 week the other the next, or whatever I felt like driving. money is not a problem. I would not mind a daycab, I just want to be able to adapt to any situation & a daycab will limit me on that. I am still running local with different loads & destinations, but in the same general area. in fact some of the carriers who cut the raters are not being dependable & the shipper is getting tired of it & calling us a lot lately to cover loads. so we may get our former dedicated back, but I don't count on anything. I either will look to buy another piece of property or a another truck & or trailer. down to last mortgage payoff this june.
Ruthless Thanks this. -
How do you do your insurance that you could jump from truck to truck, or would you insure both?
-
What's the rear's? 3.55 or 3.70 what's your work otr and all highway? My 1st truck had 3.73's and it was to low for ort pulling a box. Best regards and wishes.

I would have ins on both.

I do not know many details about truck. I sent e-mail expect to hear from them monday, I may go in person with my coveralls & look at truck in person with wrenches & flashlight handy. all my driving in interstate. 70 m.p.h. then no more than 3 miles on 4 ln. 180 miles out, approx same back. I will have 1 mile deadhead monday though. lol. some days I do have to drive 40-70 miles for my reload. I do enjoy the time off while truck is in shop, but I always think about the money lost. it seems every time my truck goes in for repairs, weather scheduled maint or other it just happens to be the busiest time, like could of done 14 loads instead of the 8 or 10.
-
I would buy it, looks like a solid well taken care of truck. But I am partial to freightliner/Detroit. Mileage is low for an '02?
As you said if you go to check it out, get under it with flashlight. And also request an ECM report, if you are seriously interested in it pay for the report if they insist. You could also do an oil sample but the oil was probably changed by the dealer.heavyhaulerss Thanks this. -
Looks good...offer him $14000 to start
