When installing an aftermarket radio there's a wire left behind that don't connect to anything which would be for the lights but as far as clock and presets that's from the main power source in a car

so that being said even if there's a wire for the clock and the wire for the lights that still has nothing to do with the radio turning off and back on

    THat is not correct,
The main power is switched via the ignition,

the clock and presets are hot via fuse (Unswitched)

so you're telling me that if I disconnect the hot wire my clock and presets will still be saved........ I don't think so. The main power is not switched, rather the ignition wire is. A car stereo has 3 wires, 12v hot which is constant, saving the presets and clock, then 12v ignition which turns the radio on/off, and ground. I guarantee you it's the same way with the freightliner.

Grummpy.....that's the exact same problem I have, however I don't listen to the radio when parked.

The only added feature to the Freightliner stereo is you can turn it on with the ignition off but that's not the problem I have nor the grummpy guy lol

Dont misunderstand me, I also have the problem while driving, idling or sitting without the engine running.

And as far as I know, I have to have my ignition either on or turned to the left for the radio to work. If my ignition is in the off position, my radio wont come on. If the ignition is turned to the left or right, the radio will play.

Any time my radio is on, whether driving, idling or sitting with the engine off, but with the ignition turned either to the right or left, the radio is subject to the problem at hand.

    Hope this helps :)

Do you know which wire number you are losing voltage on?

That's interesting. With the key in the off position, i can turn the radio on by pressing the source/power button on the top left....to turn it off press and hold the power button until it shuts off. If you can't maybe you don't have the feature, or there's definitely a wiring issue in your situation. I'll check into listening to mine while parked or just idling to see if it occurs the same as it does when I'm driving

Has anyone found out how to solve this problem. I have a 2016 Cascadia that does the same thing.I even replaced the radio and it still comes on and off.

Cascadia's radio's power come straight from PNDB. On PNDB cover you will see label showing which fuse is for radio. Check that fuse . Also check to power is always there on cavity...this problem is PNDB related.
